July...respectfully, this month owes me. 😂

I know we're supposed to look back at hard seasons and immediately find the lesson. But sometimes you're still sitting in the middle of it thinking..."Can I just have a minute before we turn this into growth?"

This month reminded me that difficult seasons rarely look the way we imagine. I wrote about what July taught me about hard seasons, the people who show up, and learning to offer myself the same compassion I give everyone else.

What has a difficult season taught you lately?

For a long time, I thought I was behind.

Behind on marriage. Behind in suceeding. Behind on the life I imagined would have happened by now.

Then life taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way: comparison creates deadlines that were never mine to meet.

Your path isn't delayed because it looks different. It's unfolding in a way only your story can.

Be gentle with yourself. You're not behind. You're becoming. 🤍

My phone told me I was running low on storage. So I did what any sentimental hoarder does: opened old text messages to delete them, and ended up reading every single one instead.

Four years back. Old plans, old jokes, a version of me I hadn't thought about in a while.

It got me thinking about how easily we postpone ourselves while telling ourselves we're just being patient, just being responsible, just waiting for the right time.

New piece on The Becoming Blueprint: "I Used To Be Fun." Would love to know if this lands for you too.

How we accidentally postpone our lives

I thought I was editing my story. I wasn't. Turns out I was managing it. Trying to make sure people understood before they had the chance to misunderstand.

That's what shame does. It doesn't always tell you to hide. Sometimes it convinces you that you're just "being careful." That realization changed everything for me.

I wrote about it in this week's Becoming Blueprint. Like to read it? Here it go!

I'm sharing something today that lives really close to home for me.

It's about what happens when you've done everything right and life still shows up with its own agenda. About what it costs to choose your own knowing. And about what I found when I paid that cost. If you're in the middle of your own almost right now…this one is for you.

Take your time with it.

I feel so at ease.

At peace.

If you've been reading this month you know what it took to get here. The note card. The distance. The work. The exhale I had been holding since my daddy died.

And now I'm in Zanzibar, days away from becoming a wife, and all I feel is still.

The final Becoming Blueprint reflection of May is up. It's everything this month taught me about slowing down long enough to catch what God threw.

Everyone is congratulating me on the upcoming nuptials and I am so grateful. THANK YOU ALL!

But the piece I published this week is the one I want you to sit with before the wedding happens. Because the woman getting married didn't just fall in love. She learned to exhale again.

That Exhale My Father Taught Me. I Finally Found It Again. It's waiting for you. 🔗

Some sentences surprise you when you say them out loud.

For me it was: “He’s got us.”

I didn’t know how much I needed that sentence until I said it.

New reflection is live. On expansion, softness, and what it means to learn how to exhale again.

New piece is live.
