KIEV. November 26. UNN. The forest is a regenerative resource. But what is the right way to use it? This is what woodworkers, the ecological community and representatives of the State Forestry Agency discussed during the round table, reports UNN.
Details
Now we have a situation when producers demand to supply more raw materials to the market, and the ecological community, on the contrary, says that it is necessary to reduce the number of fellings. In addition, there is also a scientific point of view and international practice of foresters.
“Goslesagentstvo has taken the direction of openness and accessibility, so we initiated a dialogue between all interested parties. Using the data, where the wood comes from, how forests are created and what is the allowable cut - we must all come to a common decision - how much wood is safe for nature and enough for business to harvest wood, ”said Yuri Bolokhovets, Chairman of the State Forestry Agency.
The purpose of this dialogue is to coordinate actions that will contribute to the development of the economy and the woodworking business, but at the same time will not violate the ecological balance.
Forestry operations are subject to environmental, economic and legal constraints. The timber harvesting rate (or allowable cut) is approved for each owner or permanent user of forests and is calculated under the condition of continuous and sustainable use of forest resources.
AAC in the forests of the State Forestry Agency in 2018 was 8.379 million cubic meters. m of marketable timber, in 2019 - 8.378 million cubic meters. m, in 2020 - 8.422 million cubic meters. m. So, as we can see, the volume of timber permitted for use in the order of final felling during the specified period did not undergo significant changes.
It is necessary to understand the basic figures regarding the volume of harvesting (consumption) of domestic timber in Ukraine in recent years.
The total volume of procurement in 2018 amounted to 19.7 million cubic meters. m, in 2019 - 17.9 million cubic meters. m, in 2020 - 17.8 million cubic meters. m of liquid timber.
According to the official data of the State Forestry Agency for the period January-October of this year, the permanent forest users of Ukraine procured about 13.8 million cubic meters. m of liquid timber.
Taking into account the previous dynamics of timber harvesting, it is expected that in 2021 the Ukrainian economy will receive about 17-17.5 million cubic meters. m of domestic timber, which is comparable to the volume of timber harvest last year.
Commodity exchanges were launched in August 2021, which had a great impact on the raw wood product market in Ukraine.
The law "On the timber market", which the people's deputies adopted in the first reading, will significantly affect the situation. The Ukrainian timber market has long been in need of establishing clear uniform rules of work, where the interests of all participants in the process will be balanced and the principles of free and fair competition will be.
During the round table meeting, it was decided to adopt a joint resolution, which, to a certain extent, could balance the needs of woodworkers, the requirements of ecologists and the real capabilities of foresters, taking into account the opinions of scientists.
