China and Japan are increasing imports of Ukrainian barley
Ukrainian grain is exported in nearly 200 countries - to all continents except Australia. The main buyers are still the countries of Asia, North Africa and Southern Europe. In the past marketing year, Ukrainian grain was firmly anchored in the Asian markets, Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia.
"The market of the Black Sea region was very attractive by prices. In addition there was reducing of freight cost, so buying Ukrainian grain was very profitable, "- said the head of trading" State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine "(DPZKU) Roman Rusakov.
The largest exporter in the 2015-2016 season, according to the company "ProAgro" became DPZKU that pressed the ex-leader - the company "Nibulon". On the foreign market state corporation has sent 2.8 million tons of grain.
If before the main buyer of domestic barley was Saudi Arabia, the last season it began to actively import China and Japan. These countries increased their purchases by 2.7 and 5.6 times respectively.
"Deliveries of barley to China increased mainly due to the performance of the contract with DPZKU by SSES. In addition, prices for Ukrainian products remain attractive throughout the season ", - said the director of the consulting agency" AAA "Sergei Infusion.
At the same time, almost the half of Ukrainian corn exports fell on the EU market. In China and Egypt its shipment, by contrast, declined by more than a million tons due to lower demand in those countries. China because of overproduction of corn in the 2016/17 marketing year, for the first time in 13 years will reduce the area under this crop.
It is projected that in the next marketing year Ukraine will collect 64 million tons of grain, including the foreign market will be exported at least 36 million tons. Ukrainian farmers predict a rise in prices for locally grown wheat.
