Today, March 13, 2025: The TUPSA Taskforce team, recently elected to negotiate the Insurance Pool Cover for all Private Security Organizations (PSOs), held a final consultative meeting on how private security companies can access affordable insurance premiums. This follows the imposition of exorbitant fees on industry players by some insurance firms.

The seven-member Taskforce, elected from different private security companies during the stakeholders' meeting on insurance held recently at Kati Restaurant on Lugogo Bypass, is composed of professionals with expertise in insurance, law, procurement, and human resource management. Their final consultative meeting took place at Piato Restaurant on Lumumba Avenue, Kampala, under the chairmanship of Mr. Shabbir Moiz Ali from Tight Security.

During the meeting, the Taskforce reviewed the proposed Collective Bargaining Insurance Cover for all PSOs, aligning it with guidance from the Insurance Regulatory Authority and the Uganda Police Force’s requirements for the annual Operators’ License. The discussions focused on ensuring that insurance premium cover for small, medium, and large companies is:

Easily accessible

Affordable

Supported by insurance literacy

Financed at cheaper interest rates

The objective is to ensure that no PSO faces limitations in executing its duties under this pilot project, which is being guided by the Insurance Regulatory Authority.

TUPSA Chairman, Grace Matsiko, urged the Taskforce members to uphold transparency and deliver value for money, emphasizing that these were the core objectives behind their election. He assured them that the TUPSA Executive would provide the necessary support to help them meet the expectations of the PSO members. He further highlighted the importance of cost-cutting measures and professionalism to foster growth in the sector for the greater benefit of PSO directors and employees.
