WATCH👉: Namuddu Grace, a leather designer in Bwaise, Kampala District, is transforming her life through skills gained under the Get Skilled Project. After facing financial challenges during COVID-19, Grace embraced leatherwork training where she learned how to make sandals, gentle shoes, safety boots, and carry out professional shoe repairs.

Through enterprise and practical skills development, Grace established her own leather workshop and now earns a steady income while supporting her family, including paying school fees for her brother. Her journey reflects how vocational skills can empower young women to build independent and sustainable livelihoods.

Training for Cohort 5 under the Get Skilled Project is actively underway, bringing together motivated participants eager to gain practical, market-relevant skills. Through hands-on sessions led by experienced trainers, trainees are building technical knowledge and real-world experience to prepare for employment and self-reliance.

The program also integrates essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, and financial literacy. This holistic approach ensures participants are not only technically equipped but also ready to navigate workplace demands

appreciation for the opportunity, noting how the training is providing a clear pathway toward self-reliance and economic empowerment. The Bussi youth have officially kicked off their vocational training under the , and the energy on-site is electric! We are proud to see participants diving into a diverse range of technical trades designed to transform their futures:

Concrete Works: Mastering the precision of hands-on masonry and structural integrity.

Welding & Metal Fabrication: Fusing together the technical skills needed for modern infrastructure.

Motorcycle Repair & Maintenance: Gaining the mechanical expertise to keep their communities moving.

Beyond the tools, every session is backed by rigorous Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training, ensuring our youth build with excellence and work with safety. We aren't just teaching trades; we are equipping a generation with the blueprints for improved livelihoods and stronger communities.

Happening now 📍 Busi, Wakiso: The Parent/Guardians, Trainers, and Trainees Engagement Meeting is underway in preparation for youth joining technical training under the Get Skilled Project, funded by GIZ .
Parents, trainers, and trainees are coming together to strengthen collaboration and build a strong support system to guide youth throughout their training journey and beyond. The session is also aligning expectations on training, responsibilities, and career pathways in employment and entrepreneurship.
