BRAC Social Enterprise (BSE) obtained an award from the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) for emerging as second best in the recently concluded 28th National Agricultural Show in Jinja.
The show which aimed at setting a platform for knowledge bench marking, business and market opportunities to both exhibitors and show goers comprised of various agriculturalists including BRAC Seed . It gave farmers opportunity to attend agronomical, , industrial and trainings thus a pathway to improving their agricultural practices.
The National Agricultural Show has been going on for the last 27 years and is so far the biggest and leading in Uganda and East Africa with over 1000 exhibitors showcasing different products and services geared at improving agriculture in Uganda.

Earlier this week, BRAC SEED held a farmer's field day at the field farm in Nakaseke. A number of guests that included crop growers and members of the district were invited to learn about the variety of the high quality seeds that were available and what they can do to achieve the yield of highest quality.

It is a high yielding variety of about 250 bags per acre. It starts putting on fruits in a period of 65days from the time of nursery bed preparation. This eggplant has a seed rate of 125gms per acre and is a planted with a spacing of 75cm x 60cm as well as a good tolerance to pests and diseases.
The African Eggplant white not only looks very attractive to customers but also cooks very fast and is not bitter.

This type of rice has an early maturity of about 100-120 days alongside a high yield potential of 8-10 bags per acre. It also has a seed rate of 30kgs per acre and is very tolerant to rice blast. Rice -NAMCHE 5 is a very aromatic rice variety.

Soya Bean- MAK SOY 3N
This variety is highly rich in proteins. It not only has a quick maturity period of 90 days but is also very tolerant to pod shuttering. The MAK SOY 3N soya bean has a seed rate of 25kg per acre with a yield potential of 1000 - 1200kg per acre.

Bean -NABE 16 is a variety that has a high yield potential of 1000-1200kg per acre and a maturity period of 70-80 days. This bean variety is planted with a spacing of 60 x 10cm; 2 seeds per hole and its seed rate is 25-30kg per acre. It is not only tolerant to drought but also to diseases like anthrocnose. Bean -NABE 16 has a very short cooking period.
