Onboarding creates access. Business support creates the pathway to income.

Last evening, CEEDO completed the final phase of onboarding young women onto the Sustainable Inclusive Youth Employment Pathways programme in Pakanyi Sub-county, Masindi District.

The young women are excited, but excitement must now be matched with practical support.

In the coming days, CEEDO will begin providing Business Support Services, helping participants strengthen their skills, develop enterprises, access opportunities and work towards sustainable livelihoods.

For Uganda to address youth unemployment, programmes must go beyond counting enrolments. They must support young people to build businesses, generate income and participate meaningfully in the economy.

This is the journey SIYEP is advancing,one young woman and one enterprise at a time.

What does a strong food system have to do with good health?

Almost everything.

Food systems determine what reaches our tables, how nutritious it is, whether families can afford it, and ultimately whether communities can live healthy and productive lives.

For AAIN, transforming food systems therefore goes beyond increasing agricultural production. It means building systems that deliver safe, nutritious and accessible food, create sustainable livelihoods, strengthen resilience and support healthier communities.

As Uganda works towards SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, investment in agriculture and food systems must increasingly recognise the connection between what we grow, what we eat, how we earn and how well we live.

This conversation will be part of the Food Systems Investment Summit (FSIS 2026), bringing together government, private sector, development partners, innovators, investors and agribusiness actors to explore solutions that can transform Uganda’s food systems.

Can Uganda achieve Zero Hunger without investing in the people and enterprises that feed our communities?

SDG 2 – Zero Hunger challenges us not only to end hunger, but also to improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

For AAIN, this means strengthening the entire pathway from skills → innovation → enterprise → markets → resilient food systems.

Through agribusiness incubation, entrepreneurship support and partnerships, we are contributing to an ecosystem where young people and women can participate meaningfully in agriculture, build sustainable businesses and contribute to food security.

But transforming food systems requires collective action.

On 1–2 October 2026, AAIN and the Office of the Prime Minister – SDG Secretariat will convene stakeholders at UIRI, Namanve, for the Food Systems Investment Summit (FSIS 2026).

The question before us is simple:

How do we turn Uganda’s agricultural potential into investable solutions that deliver food, jobs and resilience?

Agriculture employs and sustains millions of people across Africa.

But here is the question:

If people participate in our food systems every day, why do so many remain trapped in poverty?

That is the conversation we must move beyond.

At AAIN, we believe food-systems transformation must be measured not only by how much we produce, but by whose incomes grow, whose businesses survive, whose innovations reach markets, and how many decent jobs are created.

Through agribusiness incubation, enterprise development, market linkages and investment mobilisation, we are working to turn participation in agriculture into economic opportunity and sustainable livelihoods.

And this is one of the conversations at the heart of the Food Systems Investment Summit (FSIS) 2026.

The hard truth?

A food system cannot be called successful simply because it produces food. It must also create prosperity for the people who sustain it.

As Uganda prepares for , the challenge before investors, government, development partners and the private sector is clear:

AAIN staff have convened for a Staff Retreat and Management Reflection Session, creating space to take stock of our journey, reflect on what is working, identify what needs to change, and collectively shape the organisation we need for the future.

Our conversations are centred on some important questions:

🔹 What are we doing well that we should strengthen and scale?
🔹 What must we do differently to remain relevant and competitive?
🔹 What skills and competencies do we need for the future?
🔹 Who are the partners and stakeholders we need on this journey?
🔹 What investments and assets should AAIN prioritise to deliver greater impact?

As an organisation working across Africa’s agribusiness incubation ecosystem, continuous learning must begin from within.

This retreat is therefore more than a moment away from our desks, it is an opportunity to pause, reflect, challenge ourselves and align our systems and ambitions for greater impact.

Because building stronger agribusiness ecosystems starts with building a stronger AAIN

AAIN has successfully concluded the Central Region Training of Trainers on the reviewed BIM Curriculum, AAIN Incubation Delivery Model and AAIN-SIYEP Incubatee Transition Model.

The well-attended training equipped incubators with practical approaches to strengthen onboarding, incubation support, progression, graduation and transition of young women into dignified work, sustainable enterprises, employment and market opportunities.

The objectives were achieved, the conversations were engaging, and our incubators leave better aligned and equipped to translate the models into action.

Because when we strengthen incubators, we strengthen the pathways available to young women.

AAIN has successfully concluded a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for Central Region Incubators on the reviewed Business Incubation Management (BIM) Curriculum, AAIN Incubation Delivery Model and AAIN-SIYEP Incubatee Transition Model, Successfull Impact story telling, Monitoring&Evaluation best practices among other program practices held from 18th -19th August 2026 at Ministers Village Hotel, Ntinda.

The well-attended and highly engaging training achieved its objectives, strengthening participants’ understanding and practical capacity to translate AAIN’s incubation models into quality support for young women.

Through practical sessions, discussions and exercises, participants strengthened their capacity in:
🔹Proper impact story telling
🔹M&E best practices
🔹 Applying the reviewed BIM Curriculum
🔹 Delivering structured pre-incubation, incubation and post-incubation support
🔹 Effective identification, profiling, segmentation and onboarding of incubatees
🔹 Supporting incubatees according to their needs and stages of growth
🔹 Developing practical implementation strategies and work plans
🔹 Preparing young women for transition into dignified work, sustainable enterprises, employment and market opportunities
🔹 Strengthening graduation, transition and outcome tracking

The training also provided an important platform for Central Region incubators to align around a common understanding and approach to quality incubation delivery.

For AAIN, strengthening the capacity of incubators is ultimately about strengthening the opportunities available to the young women they serve.

From stronger incubators to stronger enterprises, sustainable livelihoods and dignified work.

And we onboarded young women onto the SIYEP program

Every young woman reached represents a new opportunity to learn, build skills, explore enterprise and work towards a sustainable livelihood.

And this is just the beginning.

More skills. More opportunities. More livelihoods for young women in Kigezi. We aim to transit 25,000 young gotls into descent jobs and dignified employment.
