When buying for organisations, the procurement departments so expect much quality from the suppliers but they forget that they also have a great role to play in the delivery of quality. The end users must be sensitized on how a product can be used before supply and then during the period of usage, can the supplier work with user departments smoothly? Blames on quality related issues put to supplier can never be a solution at all. Let's all meet to discuss the relationship roles between the supplier and user for the good benefit of both parties. Try it!

The human resource, the human resource and the human resource. Everything on quality standards rotates around the human resource. Promote the human resource so they can promote quality in your organisation. By HR promotion, I refer to empowering them through training, confidence building and motivational talk to gain a deeper understanding in their work.

Corporate social responsibility at times means spending on the community. How much does an organisation inform/sensitize the community about your social responsibility to them? If you don't loudly inform them that you care then they will not know that you do. However small your contribution can be, be louder and spread the message to the surrounding communities. Corporate Social Responsibility is another way of advertising you business. Do it!

Motivating your staff is an important thing a manager must not ignore. Things like performance bonus, transport allowance, risk allowance for staff working in risky areas, overnight allowances, foo, get together parties, etc...... All these keep the the organisation together in one and the staff will now talk about the organisation and their managers. Try it!

Reward management is one of the approaches we can apply to increase productivity. Today, productivity can only be valued if quality output is monitored well. Way back we learnt that for an organisation to register success, its output must go through quality processes thus compete on the market. Customers are keen to know the quality of a product they want to buy. If you cannot pay well your employees, they will not pay greater attention to quality production. Money cannot be everything but it eases life. Your workers need that better life and be recognised by the community that they work for your organisation. I admire workers of those international organisations which know how to apply this human resource strategy in their business. You can also do it and the benefits are endless.

Hullo, there is no way your organisation shall keep in this stiff competition if the processes do not match with international standards. You need to standardise your processes so customers can be sure of your products.

In our last post we looked at the philosophy of Total Quality Management. Today, let's look at the 5 major approaches or actions necessary for an organisation to achieve total quality and productivity. They are... 1. Focus on customer's needs. 2. Focus on problem prevention, not correction. 3. Make continuous improvements: seek to meet customers' requirements in time, the first time, every time. 4. Train employees in ways to improve quality. 5. Apply the team approach to problem solving.(Deming, Juan, Crosby, Deugnbahm).
