This week, our business advisors supporting under the Green BDS Program, implemented through 's IYBA WE4A Project, took part in a 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on gender mainstreaming and Product/Service Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

With the program already rolled out across Uganda, including the Central, East, and South Western regions, bringing together our advisors from across the country provided an important opportunity to strengthen a shared approach to delivering quality technical assistance to women-led enterprises.

The training helped our advisors deepen their understanding of gender-responsive business advisory, and how to better integrate gender considerations when supporting women-led enterprises. They also gained practical insights into and how it can help businesses assess the environmental impact of their products and operations, identify areas for improvement, and take practical steps towards becoming greener and more sustainable.

🌱 From Word-of-Mouth to a Growth-Ready Brand

For GROUP LIMITED, growth began with something familiar to many businesses—customers telling others about products they loved.

But as the business grew, a bigger question emerged: How do you turn organic growth into sustainable growth?

Through the Finding XY Technical Assistance Facility ( ), Aroza received hands-on support to strengthen its marketing, customer engagement and growth strategy.

One key insight stood out: 90% of Aroza’s customers were low-volume retailers, while only 10% made purchases of UGX 100,000 or more. This highlighted an opportunity to focus on building loyal, high-value customers rather than simply increasing the number of one-time buyers.

Together, Finding XY and Aroza developed a new brand position around “NOURISH”, with the promise “Nourishing People, Empowering Farmers.” The business also developed customer segments, a loyalty programme, a structured customer database and a clearer marketing strategy.

Today, Aroza is moving from simply selling products to building lasting customer relationships, understanding its markets and creating systems for sustainable growth.

The journey is still unfolding—but the foundation is stronger, the direction is clearer, and the next chapter is about turning strategy into measurable growth.
