One, two, three… and hundreds of fisherfolk engaged!

Two weeks ago, our team embarked on a journey to six lakeside districts for the baseline survey of Phase 2 of our Enhancing Fisherfolk Safety ( ) project. Alongside our partners from the Department of Meteorology (Ministry of Water and Environment) and the .center for Behavioural Economics, and with field support from the and Baitambogwe Community Health Initiative, we’re gathering valuable insights.

So, what are we aiming to discover? We're collecting both qualitative and quantitative data to better understand the challenges faced by fisherfolk. For example, what lead times do fisherfolk currently have when accessing weather updates before setting out on their trips? Or, how long can they endure thermal discomfort in the jackets available today?

As we work to improve safety, we’d love to hear from you: If you were tackling the issue of drowning in fishing communities, what would you want to know? It’s always a great time to ask more questions. Stay tuned!
