NEW YEAR (2018) MESSAGE FROM KENTIM MANAGEMENT TO FARMERS AND VACISTS (S4 & S6).

Greetings from Kentim,

We give glory & honour back to Jesus for enabling us to complete 2017.

In 2017 we were able to register and classify farmers (Under Kentim Farmers Platforms) into different clusters among other activities.Clustering will enable us to serve the farmers better (with specificity).

In 2018,we shall operationalize all the clusters.In January 2018 Kentim Farmers Platform Members (KFP) Members under poultry and piggery clusters will be able to receive feeds,day old chicks,drugs and extension services (with two resident veterinary doctors) from Kentim (at the best competitive prices in the country) on cash or credit.Kentim will also provide market for the eggs,broilers,day old chicks and offlayers.We shall hold a meeting for Members of Poultry and piggery clusters on a date to be communicated.The programme for other clusters will be communicated.

As you maybe already aware, Makerere Business School & Innovations Centre (MBS-Kentim Campus) is one of the leading institutions of higher learning offering hands-on practical courses in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2018,Kentim Campus of Makerere Business School & Innovations Centre (MBS-Kentim Campus) will continue to offer high quantity hands-on Agriculture,Business,Catering and Technical courses.Hence producing JOB Creators.

We have UBTEB Centre for Agriculture,Business and Technical (including catering & hotel management) courses.We added more lecture rooms and space in 2017 to accomodate many prospective students in 2018.

In 2018,Under our community engagement initiative,we shall continue to work with farmers,business people,research institutions,Universities and other development partners to maintain our quality standard.If you are a farmer or a business owner in need of students who work under supervision of their lectures to help you do some practicals on your farm or business like massive debeaking,massive deworming,grafting,budding,marketing e.t.c contact us in time to help you under our community engagement initiative.We can give you upto 50 students (working under supervision of their lecturers) to help you at your Farm or business at no FEE!

First year Students studying National certificate in Agriculture at MBS-Kentim campus will report on 14th January 2018. First year National Diploma in Animal production & management and National Diploma in crop production & management will report on August 12th 2018.

As part of our corporate social responsibility,our students offer free advisory services to farmers.

E.g if u want to do massive vaccination of chicks/chicken or do other farm practices that need numbers,Kentim campus of MBS can give u a team of students studying Animal Or Crop production to do it for you for free under supervision of lectures.

You have to transport the students from Kentim campu of MBS at Kyanja to yr farm and farm and back.

You have to book a week in advance.

Kentim Farmers Platforms (KFPs) Get together Babeque & knowledge sharing session; Saturday 28th May 2016.

Members of Kentim farmers platforms (KFPs) will have a get together barbeque & Knowledge sharing session on Saturday 28th May 2016 at Kentim-Kyanja beginning at 2:00pm.

A number of important issues will be discussed in line with farming as a business.

We shall;
1⃣Share lessons learnt from the previous internal & external Agric tours (45 Minutes)
2⃣Talk about the two forthcoming livestock shows in Mbarara & Kenya (30 minutes) and
3⃣Talk about formation of an association (as was requested 4 by the farmers who participated in the April Kentim-Kenya Agric learning Tour). (30 minutes)
4⃣Emerging local, regional & international markets for our agric products (agriculture products that are on demand regionally and internationally) and possible sources of Agriculture financing.(45 Minutes)

Don't hesitate to exhibit your agric products .
Space will be provided . (Free for members of Kentim farmers platforms,non KFPs members will pay for space to exhibit)

Cost
✅Farmers who have ever participated in Kentim organised agriculture trainings, internal or external learning tours will not pay for the get together babeque and knowledge sharing session.

✅Members of Kentim Farmers Platforms (KFPs) who have never participated in any agriculture learning tour or Kentim organised trainings or events will contribute 20,000 shs.

✅Non Kentim Farmers Platforms (Non KFPs) farmers who may wish to join Kentim Farmers family for the Babeque and knowledge sharing session will contribute 50,000shs.

KENTIM-INTERNAL AGRICULTURAL LEARNING TOUR: 30th APRIL 2016

Kentim-Integrated Agricultural Training Centre an agricultural training arm of Kentim University (project) has organized an internal agricultural learning tour that will help farmers to practically learn from Uganda's model and commercial farmers to able to improve their farms and make them run as businesses.

ITINERARY FOR THE APRIL 30TH AGRIC LEARNING TOUR (Agro-Tour)

Departure: 5:00am from Kentim - Kampala

Destination No 1-Eastern Diaries .
Location;Mayuge District

The farm practices purely zero grazing system of cattle keeping with close to 100 cattle kept on less than one acre.It's arguably one of the most organized & economically productive farms in Eastern Uganda.How possible is it to keep such a number of cattle on less than an acre? Is a question whose answer you will get on 30th April (7:30am)

We shall have breakfast at Eastern Dairies(9:00am) and Depart for Mega Farm (Kayunga via Jinja Kayunga road)

Destination No 2-Mega Farm.
Location;Bale,Kayunga District.

The home of Mega milk & Mega Yoghurt.Cattle graze fleely on pasture that was planted in the various paddocks,they also get supplementary feeding.
At the farm we shall also see;
a) Matooke plantation-Under drip Irrigation
b)Goat farming
c)A spray race and various pastures
We shall have lunch at Mega Farm (At 1:00Pm).We shall leave Mega Farm at 3:00Pm for a mixed farm in Mukono.

Destination No3;
Mixed Farm in Mukono District-Near R.Sezibwa (At Mukono/Kayunga Boarder)
It has a number of entreprises on the farm and has
sprinkler irrigation system,Poultry keeping,Zero grazing among other enterprises (Leave at 4:30pm)

Close the learning tour with Goat roasting at Kentim-Kyanja at 6:00pm with a Live Band.
