KMK was founded in 2004 by Mark Kasenge Kiyingi, the company founder was Born and raised in Kampala(Uganda), he took up the initiative to form KMK in middle school(Kyambogo College School), with help from his Colleagues, he excelled in writing business proposals and plans for various SMEs in Kampala(Uganda). He was later enrolled at Makerere University-Kampala(BCOM) majoring in Accounting, Did his professional course in ACCA and CPA(U) all from Uganda, then a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Administration (UMI)
He was then awarded an Open Scholarship in Oxford University (MS in Business and Finance), and then Harvard University for his PHD in Management and Administration
After leaving Harvard University, Prof Kasenge worked with, World Vision-International, IMF and World Bank all in the United States. On his return to Uganda, he partly worked with Bank of Uganda before fully concentrating on KMS
