The company’s main objective is to enable executives and management staff of SACCO networks, practitioners and consultants to improve performance of duties entrusted to cooperative structures The company’s main objective is to enable executives and management staff of SACCO networks, practitioners and consultants to improve performance of duties entrusted to cooperative structures or SACCO and to
become equipped to better cope with the constraints encountered through training and workshops
Cooperatives have developed in practically all countries around the world. In fact with the exception of their staff and leaders, few are those who are able to accurately define what a cooperative is and explain how it differs from a for-profit or a not-for-profit organization. Few are aware that a savings and credit cooperative society, besides being different from a bank, is also different from an agricultural cooperative or an industrial cooperative
Mentioning this generalized misunderstanding of the cooperative difference is not a criticism, it is a fact. As has been demonstrated by many opinion surveys conducted in various countries, a large proportion of the population doesn’t know how to differentiate between the cooperative and other forms of economic and social organizations
This ignorance of the cooperative difference in relation to other types of enterprises is also accompanied by ignorance of how it is organized and operates. Generally speaking, people know, for example, that the leaders of the cooperative are elected according to democratic principle, but they barely know any more about this.
