A summarised version of an article Joel Basoga co-authored with Paul Epodoi covering why businesses, organisations and individuals need to pay attention to privacy regulations was published in the The Daily Monitor Newspaper (see link below). It specifically addresses the challenges that computing technologies present especially how they facilitate the capacity to gather, collect and manipulate massive quantities of information. They also dealt with the misconception around privacy, especially the idea that privacy is only for those who have something to hide. In so doing, they state out a wider conception of privacy while borrowing from different scholarly and practical perspectives.

The term financial inclusion has not been a top objective for the traditional financial sector, however, the emergence of more disruptive FinTech solutions like Mobile Money, Micro-insurance, among others, has twisted the strong arm of the traditional financial sector to at least turn and pay attention to this long-forgotten class of the population; sometimes popularly known as the “unbanked”.

I am honoured to host Louisa Ayebare and Lynette N. Ankunda to speak about working and running a business. (this Saturday 21 November 2020 at 12:00PM EAT)

Louisa and Lynette are the co-founders of eudia_ug, a business dealing in sustainable handwoven baskets, bags and accessories ethically made by women artisans in and around East Africa.

Louisa is an Economist, currently doing research in refugee camps across East Africa. She holds an Msc in Humanitarianism, Conflict and Development from the University of Bath and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with French from Durham University.

Lynette is a Barrister at Law (England and Wales) called at the The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Warwick . She also holds a Masters of Law in International Commercial Law from the University of Bristol.

Louisa and Lynette will share their experience running their business. They shall also speak about studying and working across continents, specifically how it has impacted their professions and business.
