ECOBED BIOTECH INITIATIVE had the privilege of participating in The New Africa Fund workshop in , Rwanda together with a diverse cohort of 10 ambitious social entrepreneurs from all-over Africa.

We had different hands-on sessions throughout the week including sessions on communication and storytelling skills, fundraising strategy, financial management, and using technology to supercharge fundraising. Each session was practical and evidence based with real time applications and challenge drives.

A very special thank you to Ms. Nuhu Alimatu Sadia (MPhil), who pushed us out of our comfort zone with a 15-minute fundraising challenge. We were tasked to raise funds immediately; no preparation, no excuses. In just 15 minutes, we mobilized over $200 from friends. That exercise changed everything I knew about fundraising.

The other inspiring moments were about visiting past grantees of the NAF. We visited IRIBA Water Group, listened to their impactful journey, and exchanged ideas with its CEO Yvette Ishimwe.

We are also deeply grateful to the President of New Africa fund, Mr. Steven Beck for his practical and intentional leadership.
