It was on Sunday 22d when I watched a video on YouTube titled "The secret of 5 AM| One Habit That Changed a Poor Man's Life"
I was moved by the video, became emotional because the video reasonated with me deeply! I remembered the time in 2021 I left a certain beverages company to start my own side hustle or trading.
Seriously I had no idea where to start from. But leaving that a side, there are a whole lot of things I have planned to do in vain. Yet the secret dwelled in waking up as early as when everyone is a sleep!
That very time when the world is so quiet. Only birds in the air can shout and only scars in the sky can testify the time past mid-night!
The video talked about how a poor man-a night security changed his life by changing his sleep schedule what is branded as 'magic hours' from 5am-7am.
The security guard was hard-working but life never changed to an extent his mother was bed-ridden but he couldn't afford medication.
The secret in this video is how the security guard took a challenge of waking up and working within the mentioned magic hours (5am-7am), every day for 91 days (at the beginning) building skills from the online space like YouTube.
The security guard named Thomas, started with Excel and accounting tutorials until he mastered it and secured a promotion in the very company he was a night security guard as a lead accountant!
What's familiar in this video, is that the body will resist in favor of a comfort zone, it will create excuses and you have to push through.
I had gone through this several times. I would set an alarm for 3am and I would be the one to turn it off and continue the sleep. I can't remember the time I respected my alarms. The mind has always been giving me excuses.
When I watched this video, I felt the nudge to try again this challenge, not waking up at 5am but 3am. Sleep at 9pm, wake up at 3am.
I also have a big WHY to change my life. As a content creator and trader, a lot of things were dying! My posting schedule on YouTube and Medium-a writing platform had fallen apart!
Reading books, going through my YouTube tutorials was declining and I needed to act!
The day to begin was the following day, Monday, 23rd.02.2026
The alarm was on as usual.
I became emotional about this video, recorded my thoughts (opinion) and published it on my YouTube channel. I promised my viewers, I am going to start the challenge the following day.
Yes, on Monday, 23rd.02.2026, I woke up at 3:16am
- Took a shower, dressed up, had a prayer and by 6:46am, I had recorded, edited and published a new video on my channel. The body and mind started by giving me excuses in those 16 minutes wasted, but remembered I had a challenge and can't accept to be a failure.
-Day 2, 24th. 02.2026, which is today I have written this post, woke up at exactly 3am, took a shower, had a prayer and by 7am, I had almost finished writing an article version of the previous video-now published on my Medium page!
-Day 3 is tomorrow and I am prepared to push through!
