There is a problem of high unemployment levels in Uganda and beyond: youth unemployment in Uganda was standing at 83% in 2017 (International Labour office, 2017) which continues to deteriorate and according to UNDP, 2017, Kenya leads all East African countries with unemployment levels of one in every 5 Kenyans being unemployed and Tanzania its one in every 20 not employed. According to International Labour office, and UNDP, these numbers are expected to increase during this Covid-19 period. The health standards are going down because of artificial foods and drinks supplied to people and according to “The Uganda Foods and Nutrition Policy Document issued in 2003, there is inadequate supply and access to good quality foods for human consumption. GFB is aimed at producing pure natural foods and beverages from sorghum and millet and this is to ensure, there is reduction in unemployment levels and supporting the government in improving health standards of communities. The company employs permanent and temporary workers to work in the factories, it trains its staff to make sure good quality products are supplied all through and aim at empowering local farmers by training them on growing millet and sorghum, giving them seeds and fertilizers to grow the products. The benefits will be providing employment, natural health products and the beneficiaries will be farmers, transporters, farm workers, raw material suppliers, and logistic providers among others. The company is expected to create 50 more office jobs (i.e. Accountants, Accounts Assistants, CFO, Senior Marketing Officers, Office Administrators, HR, Quality executive and Sales representative), 50 field officers in sales, 15 trainers for farmers and empowering 30 farmers and in addition we shall need more than 300 temporary staff to work in production and with the above number, we expect to distribute 20,000,000 cartons of the product next year.
