NEXT -OF- KIN

When death occurs, the
NEXT- OF - KIN WILL NOT HAVE ANY ACCESS TO THE MONEY IN DECEASED ACCOUNT

So many people think that their next of kin is the automatic heir to their account.

But the truth is that if your next of kin is not a signatory to your account, and you don’t have a written will to determine that person’s legitimacy, the person will not have access to that money at all.

Your bank will have to go through a process called a *LEGAL PROBATE.* This probate period helps them determine who gets the money in your account. This is a very lengthy and expensive process.

Even after the whole process is done, your family will have to forfeit some reasonable amount of the money for legal fees.

But if you want to avoid this , simply request for your bank to give you something called a *POD form.* POD stands for *PAYABLE ON DEATH.* The name of the person you fill in that POD form will determine who will get your money. All the person needs to bring is a death certificate to get that money out.

With a POD form, you will save your family the stress of going through all that lengthy legal process and even loosing some money to the law.

I just thought I should let you know this😊

*S.6 RESULTS ARE OUT*
Congratulations to all who passed and many thanks to the parents, guardians and caretakers for providing. God bless you. Just a few reminders.

Remember,

1. Those that got only subsidiaries in principal subjects don't have to repeat S.6 because they have no principal passes. They can start with diploma courses or do the remedial Higher Education Certificate for 1 year within the university and proceed to the course of the their choice.

2. Parents, guardians and care takers, resist the urge of forcing the young people to do courses they don't want to do. Listen to them and give them some career guidance. If you are not able to guide them, find someone who can help them discover which course best plays to their strengths.
We have so many young people in tertiary institutions doing courses they didn't want to do and they are blaming parents and guardians for not giving them career guidance.

The workplace has changed and continues to change rapidly, there is need to be more strategic as they gather the necessary knowledge and skills that will help them when they join the workplace in future.

3. Nomatter how disappointed you might be with the results, do not throw it in their faces. Just find out what other course options are available or better still what pathways can be taken to still reach the same goal. All you need is information that is available.

4. Higher Education Financing can be very expensive for some of our parents. Please get information of existing bursaries and scholarships in the different Universities and also find out about the existing government education loans that you can take advantage of. The young people don't have to sit at home.

5.It is okay to take them to vocational institutions. They still come out knowledgeable and skilled and can still proceed to the University in future. So go ahead and consider taking your child to a vocational institution if you have to.

6. Please talk to your child about their performance and find out how they feel. Don't assume they are okay with the results. Congratulate them and encourage them.

All the Best.

10 Important Lessons from book -"RULES for MY UNBORN SON"

1)Self-discipline
Knowing how to work hard is just as important as working hard. Keeping yourself motivated when things are easy is one thing, but keeping yourself motivated when things are bad is another beast. Regardless of the situation, you must have the willpower to push through. Showing that you can do this will not only motivate those around you, it will make you a stronger man.

2)Take responsibility
In short step-up. Men take responsibility for their actions and don’t need others to tell them when or how to do so. Being responsible for one’s choices and actions isn’t always the easiest thing in the world. However, true manhood is being able to admit when they are wrong.

3)Choose your battles wisely.
It’s important to know which ones are worth fighting and which ones are better left as is. It’s okay to be quiet and walk away. It doesn’t make you less of a man.

4)Be a gentleman
Having old school values is okay. Treating women with respect is even more than okay.

-Hold the door

-Offer your seat.

-Push her chair up to the table.

-Watch your language

5)Be honest with yourself and everyone else.
Men who are honest are comfortable in themselves. “An honest man has an honorable manhood, which is something that every man should consider to succeed in life.”

6)Humility
Confidence is important but so is being humble. Men have to learn how to balance the two. Being able to do creates a strong and effective leader, which should be the goal for every man.

7)Giving to others rather than receiving.
Men who exemplify manhood see a need, and take the necessary steps to remedy that need. Filling a void and helping others, gives you a greater sense of joy than seeing what others can do for you.

8)Manners
Men (especially fathers) are portrayed as disgusting pigs (ala Al Bundy), but that’s not all men. Manners are important every second of the day, in every situation. Whether you are at home eating at your dinner table or eating in a five-star restaurant. Manners define people, and it separates us in terms of class and sophistication. Having manners and using them, also means that you are showing others around you respect.

9)Be open.
It’s okay to show feelings and to be sensitive. Toxic masculinity is a thing. To deny it exists is foolish. It’s not hard to find, and I could list several examples. In order to combat it, we have to teach our sons that it’s okay be vulnerable. It’s okay to show compassion to others. It’s a wonderful quality that all leaders have, which is why they are loved and respected by others.

10)The first shall be last.
This is a quote I read on Facebook a year ago and typed into my phone as a reminder.

True manhood puts others first. If you want to be a leader, then the place to be is on your knees, with a towel in your hand, washing someone’s feet.
