My feed has been full of Cybersecurity Awareness Month posts this October, and most of them are about keeping businesses safe. That matters. But cybersecurity isn't only a workplace issue. It's a personal one too.
Phishing doesn't care how old you are. Scammers go after teenagers on social media, parents through fake delivery texts, and grandparents with "your account has been locked" calls. Nobody is too young or too experienced to be a target.
And your data isn't just sitting with the big tech companies. It's at the car dealership where you financed your last vehicle. The online store you ordered from once. Your doctor's office. Any of them can be breached, and when they are, it's your name, address, and sometimes your Social Security number that gets exposed.
We all have data. So we all need to learn how to protect it.
Cybersecurity awareness shouldn't end when you clock out. Share this with someone who needs the reminder.
