Meet Abby K. We're excited to have Abby back for her second summer with Lufco! We sat down with her to learn more about her passions, experience, and some fun facts.
◾Where do you go to school, what are you studying, and what made you choose that major?
"I'm a rising senior at Randolph-Macon College, majoring in computer science. Since middle school, I've always been interested in technology, data collection, innovation, and problem-solving, which led me to choose this path."
◾What has been your favorite part of the company culture so far?
"My favorite part of the company's culture is how welcoming and friendly everyone is! Since beginning my internship at Lufco, the culture has made it feel like being a member of a supportive team. Everyone consistently checks in, sparks conversations during breaks, and greets each other every morning."
◾What does a typical morning look like for you as you prepare for your day at Lufco?
"I'm definitely a morning person! My day begins with a swim practice right as the sun is rising, which is a perfect way to get into the right mindset before a day at work. Following this, I enjoy eating breakfast outside, packing my lunch and some snacks for the day, and listening to relaxing music."
◾What is a piece of advice you received from a professor or mentor that has stuck with you?
"The best advice I received from a mentor was that growth comes from pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Although they are challenging and uncomfortable, I've learned that seemingly impossible tasks force me to realize my full potential and drive my personal growth."
◾What is your absolute go-to fuel to get you through a busy day?
"Hard rock music always helps motivate me through a busy day!"
◾A fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
"Most people don't know that sharks are my favorite animals, and I've swum with them before!"
