Here’s exactly what you should do before hiring a VA:

Your first step is to pull up a sparkly, new Google spreadsheet and do this:

1️⃣ Write down everything you do.

2️⃣ Categorize it based on things that are your ‘genius work’, what you like to do, what you don’t like to do, and what you want to get rid of.

3️⃣ Now Take everything BUT your genius work and put it in a separate tab, labeled VA.

4. Start to look at what processes you need to create in order for your new hire to actually do those tasks and start making loom videos (pro tip: link them into the doc next to the process).

The goal is for everyone to stay IN SCOPE and be super clear on what should be done as well as HOW it should be done. 🎯

You do your genius work, they do theirs, and expectations are clear.

This communication and expectation setting is the foundation for a successful, supporting relationship!

Decision fatigue often hits when you’re forced to make a lot of quick decisions.

It really becomes a problem when you’re backed into being reactive.

There, you make a lot of decisions to try to get yourself back to neutral and aren’t able to proactively make decisions that will move the needle long-term in your business.

Going through these steps allows you to see everything in one space rather than looping and agonizing over everything in your head.

When you keep a running list of all the things in your head, it feels much more overwhelming (and you run the risk of forgetting something important).

So, to shift out of the overwhelmed, fatigued state, follow these steps.

I say this with love…and I’ve seen it so much that I know it’s true.

If you don’t have systems set up for your business, your VA won’t know how to do things in the way you want them to be done. And then you get annoyed and frustrated with them.

(Raise your hand if you ever thought, “It’s faster if I do it myself.”)

But with systems set up and optimized based on your business and your goals, everyone will be on the same page and know exactly what to do.

Then, your VA doesn’t miss things because they're already formulated and built out. All they have to do is read your SOPs (your playbook for how you want your business to be run) and go.

Take it out of your brain and put it on paper. I promise, everything will fix itself then.
