We’re proud and excited to welcome Zach Lee as Chief Operating Officer of Stateline Wealth Advisors.

Zach brings 20 years of experience as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served in roles of increasing responsibility and ultimately as Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. Most recently, he spent a year in private practice before joining Stateline Wealth Advisors, bringing a wealth of legal, leadership, and organizational experience to his new role.

For our founder, Emily Lee, CFP®CPWA®, this is an especially meaningful addition to the Stateline Wealth team. As husband and wife, Emily and Zach share a commitment to serving clients with integrity, thoughtful guidance, and a long-term perspective—and now have the opportunity to bring that shared vision to their work together.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to having Zach’s leadership and experience help shape the next chapter of Stateline Wealth Advisors.
Welcome to Stateline, Zach!

If you have an IRA and a trust set up as part of your estate plan, this is a must-read! 💡

A lot of people setup trusts to protect their heirs and control how money is passed down. But there's a big tax detail many overlook:

An individual doesn't hit the highest federal tax bracket (37%) until they make over $640,000. But a trust hits that top bracket at just $16,000 of retained income!

If IRA withdrawals sit inside an accumulation trust rather than going out to the beneficiary, the tax hit can be far bigger than expected.

If it’s been a few years since you’ve reviewed your trust language with an estate attorney or advisor, this article explains why it’s worth a second look:

Your Wealth Isn't Just Financial—It's Digital Too.

Most people have a plan for their investments, retirement accounts, and estate documents. But what happens to your digital life?

Your digital estate includes:
💻 Online banking and investment accounts
📱 Social media profiles
📧 Email accounts
☁️ Cloud storage and family photos
🔐 Password managers and cryptocurrency wallets
💳 Subscription services and rewards accounts

Here are a few best practices to protect your digital legacy:

✅ Keep an updated inventory of your digital accounts.
✅ Use a secure password manager and ensure a trusted person knows how to access it if needed.
✅ Name a digital executor if your state allows it, or provide clear instructions within your estate plan.
✅ Review beneficiary designations on financial accounts regularly.
✅ Back up important documents and irreplaceable family photos.
✅ Discuss your wishes with your loved ones before they're needed.

If you died, what would happen to your email archives, social profiles and online accounts?

Navigating the Summer 'Fear' 🧭

The headlines celebrated a 14% rise in the S&P 500 for Q2. Yet, as the calendar turns, investor appetite has clearly soured.

This image shows the market gauge firmly in the 'Fear' zone (33). The Warren Buffett quote highlighted reminds us to think differently than the crowd, but that doesn't mean ignoring potential risks.

Market conditions are always in flux. This kind of sentiment shift is a great time to review your long-term goals and asset allocation. Are you holding steady or making adjustments?

✨ Social Security reform is back in the spotlight ✨

A bipartisan group in Congress has set a one-year deadline to develop recommendations aimed at strengthening Social Security before the program's projected funding shortfall. Among the ideas being discussed are gradually increasing the payroll tax wage cap, adjusting benefits for higher-income retirees, modifying the retirement age for future beneficiaries, and exploring changes to payroll taxes.
