A beautiful mount starts with proper care in the field. Here are a few simple tips to help protect your trophy..

❄️ KEEP IT COLD — Get the cape cooled down as quickly as possible. If you can’t bring it straight to your taxidermist, freeze it.

🚫 DON’T CUT THE THROAT — Leave plenty of cape around the neck and shoulders. You can’t add hide back once it’s cut too short.

🔪 WHEN IN DOUBT, LET YOUR TAXIDERMIST CAPE IT — The face, eyes, lips and ears require careful handling. A small mistake can make a big difference in the finished mount.

💧 KEEP IT CLEAN & DRY — Avoid leaving the cape wet, dirty or sitting in warm conditions. Heat and moisture can lead to hair slipping.

My husband hunted this deer for 2 years and low and behold it showed up at our shop. A well deserved hunter took him and we got the luxury of bring him back to life. He’s a stud VA mountain deer!
