On Saturday, September 26th, while members of the SACS Security team were working a security detail in Highland Square, a vehicle traveling down West Market Street struck and killed a 35-year-old man who was crossing the street. The vehicle then hit other vehicles, including the one our own Tom Still was in.

Tom was seriously injured. We're grateful to share that he's expected to recover, and we ask that you keep him in your thoughts as he heals.

Above all, our deepest condolences go to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life. We are so sorry for your loss.

Akron Police believe speed may have played a role, and they are investigating whether impairment was also a factor. Out of respect for that process and for everyone affected, we do not have further details at this time.

What we can say is that moments like this are a painful reminder of how quickly everything can change on the road. Please slow down, stay alert in busy areas where people are walking, and never drive impaired. Plan a ride. Call a friend. It's always worth it.

Thank you to the first responders who came to the scene, and to everyone who has reached out to Tom and our team.
