Do you ever run into 'email overload'? Yes, I do to. One of the ways I deal with it is by putting it on the To-do task list to come back to later. Yes, well, that only works sometimes until you are over-run with emails in your to-do-later list. Of course this can get out of hand, and several times I have forgotten to go back to that list as it becomes a list that I forget about and forget to go back to. Here are some helpful tips:

Discern, Don’t Just React. Every email isn’t urgent. Take 30 seconds to ask: Does this align with my calling or distract from it?

The Two-Minute Rule. If you can respond in two minutes, do it now. Don’t drag the clutter into tomorrow.

Block Sacred Time. Set two windows each day to handle email—and guard the rest for creative, prayerful, or deep work.

Archive Without Guilt. Not every email needs a reply. Silence can also be stewardship.

Begin with Gratitude. Before you open your inbox, center yourself—remember that communication is a form of service, not a source of slavery. But, you might also mark or notate the task in some way that will help you remember when you see it that it is worth taking the time out to respond.

Do you ever feel like there’s never enough time—and your inbox proves it?
You start the day determined, but before long, you’re buried under a mountain of emails. One quick fix is to move them to your task list—but that only postpones the problem. Soon, they’re forgotten, and sometimes, it’s too late.

I’ve wrestled with this myself. Here are a few spiritually and practically grounded ways I’ve found to stay sane and faithful in the digital flood:

How do you handle the overload? What spiritual or practical habits help you stay attentive without being consumed?
