Tonight we finished cleaning up and placing the 1940s Amusement Park Fire Truck into its permanent spot inside the museum.

Standing back and looking around tonight, it’s hard not to feel proud of how far this project has come over the last few years. What started as an idea and a lot of long nights has slowly turned into something special. Every artifact, every display, every piece of history has a story behind it — and seeing it all finally coming together is incredibly rewarding.

This old truck now sits among decades of preserved history, memories, and stories from those who served before us. We’re getting closer every day to opening our doors and sharing it all with the community.

More sneak peeks coming soon from Engine Co. 3 – Historical Fire Museum. 🚒

Engine Co. 3 Museum stands with the members of the Menands Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.

The loss of a fire station, apparatus, equipment, and memories built over generations is something every firefighter and fire buff understands all too well. These buildings are more than brick and steel — they are home, history, and family.

As a museum dedicated to preserving the traditions and legacy of the fire service, we recognize how devastating this loss is to the Menands Fire Department and their community. Our thoughts and prayers are with every member who answered the call only to watch their own firehouse suffer such heartbreaking damage.

From all of us at Engine Co. 3 Museum, we are keeping the Menands Fire Department in our hearts tonight. Stay strong brothers and sisters.

At Engine Co. 3 Historical Fire Museum the stories behind the gear matter just as much as the apparatus themselves.

As we get closer to opening our doors, here’s another sneak peek at one of the unique pieces that will be part of our collection. We’re honored to display the actual helicopter helmet worn by Sam J. Jones from the 1980s television series Code Red.

The show introduced an entire generation to the world of firefighting and rescue operations, and this piece represents a small but memorable part of that history. From Hollywood firefighting drama to the real-life stories of the men and women who served their communities, our goal is to preserve the traditions, memories, and culture of the fire service for future generations.

More artifacts. More stories. More history to come. Stay tuned. 🚒🔥

Tonight’s view from the bay at Engine Co 3.

There’s something about an old fire engine sitting quietly in the fading light that makes you stop for a minute. If you listen close enough, you can almost hear her stories… decades of structure fires, midnight alarms, long winters, hard runs, and the firefighters who rode beside her.

Our 1984 Mack CF may be 42 years old, but the heart behind that chrome and steel never went away. The desire to serve. The pride in protecting a community. The tradition of answering the call.

That spirit still lives here at Engine Co 3 every single day.

So, many people have asked how we fire the Mack up without effecting the museum artifacts. Here’s the answer. Our home made exhaust fan.

Earlier this afternoon, members of the Guilderland Fire Department responded to a working structure fire on Fort Hunter Road in the Fort Hunter Fire District.

The crew of Engine 27 assisted with fireground operations alongside other mutual aid agencies, while Guilderland’s Structural Decontamination Team was also dispatched to the scene to provide firefighter decontamination services following interior operations.

Firefighter decontamination plays a critical role in reducing exposure to harmful carcinogens and contaminants encountered during fires, helping protect the long-term health and safety of our members.
