Thomas J. Higgs has spent over 24 years handling complex commercial and civil litigation matters in both Federal and State Courts, including New York's Commercial Division, which has allowed him the opportunity to represent a broad range of clientele, including individuals, corporations, limited liability companies and municipalities.

From 2015 to 2026, he has been recognized by Super Lawyers for his work and in the last two (2) years he has been designated as one of the Best Lawyers in America for in the areas of Appellate Practice and Commercial Litigation.

While in law school, Tom had the privilege of working for the Hon. Thomas E. Mercure of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department and David D. Siegel, Distinguished Professor of Law, Albany Law School.

Tom remains active with Albany Law School by serving on the board of the National Alumni Association. He is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association, and the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association. He has also presented continuing legal education programs throughout the years.

This year's NFPA Fire Prevention Week campaign focuses on everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires. A few safety tips: charge on a hard flat surface, never on a bed or couch; only use the charge that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer; unplug devices once fully charged; and stop using any battery that swells, smokes, or overheats.

Safe charging habits can reduce the risk of fire, but not every fire is simply the result of user error. Defective batteries or chargers, unsafe electrical conditions, or blocked exits may raise liability questions that our team can help answer.

Enjoyed a wonderful day of golf at Wolferts Roost Country Club in support of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York. This year marks the Foundation’s 45th year of providing vital support, education, and resources to individuals and families living with epilepsy.
