If you're planning to sell your old catalytic converters, it's important to keep proper paperwork to avoid any legal trouble. Due to the increasing thefts of catalytic converters over the years, authorities have implemented new laws making it a major component part of a vehicle. By keeping proper documentation of your catalytic converters, you can ensure that you're not selling stolen property and protect yourself from any legal issues. Stay safe and responsible!
Acceptable proof of ownership for catalytic converters are as follows…
- A copy or picture of the vehicle title that matches the description of the vehicle the converter was removed from. If the title doesn't match the converter, we cannot purchase the material.
- A copy of the vehicle registration slip that shows the owner's name and vehicle information. The registration should not be off the window and must have the owner's name on it.
- A bill of sale if the converter was bought at an auction. The bill of sale should include the auction information and vehicle details.
- An MV35 form filled out at the scrap yard. Please provide a picture or copy of the form filled out when the vehicle was scraped at the junkyard. The form should include the facility information and vehicle details.
- For repair shops or dealerships, a work/repair order. All invoices must have the business letterhead, facility number, vehicle information, and a description of the work done.
