Capital Health Consulting LLC (CHC) is a boutique Government Relations and Consulting firm developed in response to the rising demands of health and human service clients. CHC is a woman-owned business staffed with resourceful and accomplished clinicians and policy experts. The team has over 50 years of experience in the public and private sectors, offering firsthand insight into regulatory compli

ance, health care and legislative processes. The team’s combined knowledge and experience allows CHC to deliver innovative and sensible approaches to improving both health and human service polices while enriching patient outcomes. CHC is committed to creating personalized and provocative strategies in the ever-changing landscape of health care to help clients meet their goals and maintain fiscal responsibility. We offer assistance with government relations, strategic planning, and tailored consulting services with a focus on patient-centric policy. Lisa Wickens-Alteri, a registered Professional Nurse, began her career at the Albany County Nursing Home and then with the opportunity to assist and serve more New York State residents moved to the New York State Department of Health. Most people are familiar with Lisa’s career in Government, but few know prior to that she worked through high school and college at the Nelson House, a retirement home in Albany, NY. It was during her high school years, around the age of 16 when the passion to care for people was cultivated. She left Public Service only when personal circumstance dictated the change. Lisa’s personal crises led her to see areas outside of her past health experience requiring advocacy.

In 2008 Lisa began working in Government Relations and Consulting and there she began applying the same practices learned through her past experience for individuals and health and human service providers. Lisa was given the opportunity to work with Ostroff Hiffa & Associates and then for the last three years at Whiteman Osterman and Hanna as the President of the Health & Human Services Division. Lisa built her unique practice with a team of clinicians and policy makers and founded Capital Health Consulting LLC (CHC) in January 2017.

Lisa’s vision for CHC is to continue her passion, working and advocating for those serving patients in order to remove barriers to care, improve access to quality delivery and improve patient outcomes. Lisa and her team strive to develop innovative and sensible approaches to improving both health and human service policies while enriching patient outcomes.

Nearly a dozen members of the New York State Society of Plastic Surgeons (NYSSPS) visited lawmakers in Albany yesterday as part of the NYSSPS 2024 Lobby Day. The group met directly with numerous legislative leaders and with officials at the Department of Financial Services to press for a number of key priorities, including: prior authorization reform, scope of practice expansion proposals that would threaten care quality, truth in advertising legislation, NYSHIP out of network legislation and others. The group of 11 surgeons is pictured below with NYSSPS Executive Director Lisa Wickens-Alteri (far left) and Senator Neil Breslin (second from left), who is the primary sponsor and champion of the “Gold Card” prior authorization reform bill.

A timely story by Spectrum's Kate Lisa on state lawmakers' efforts to prevent opioid overdose deaths. New FDA approved tools are available to reverse overdoses. Many other states are already using them. New York needs to start using them now. More NYers will die needlessly if we fail to act this year.

It's a bipartisan effort in the remaining days of session.

Please join us on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. for an important interactive educational webinar that exposes a critical flaw in New York State’s opioid overdose response, and discusses new tools that are now available to reverse the explosive growth in overdose deaths.

Presenters will discuss the role of Naloxone in preventing death and permanent injury, the most up to date tools available to the public and first responders, and the obstacles unique to New York that prevent some of the most effective tools from getting to the hands of first responders.

In addition, the discussion will detail: the evolution of the epidemic from prescription painkillers to he**in, fentanyl and synthetics; the toll in lives lost; and the lesser known but potentially far broader toll of permanent brain injury associated with opioid overdose.

The webinar, hosted by Capital Health Consulting, will feature leading national experts Desiree Crevecoeur-MacPhail, Ph.D. and Edmond Hakimi, MD. Also joining to share her fist-hand experiences is Ashley Livingston, a recovery advocate who has received and administered Naloxone.

Participants are welcome and encouraged to ask questions.
