From 1776 to today, this milestone reminds us of the enduring spirit of independence, resilience, and possibility that continues to shape our country. It is a time to reflect on how far we have come, honor those who helped build this nation, and look ahead to the future we are still creating together.

The U.S. Postal Service has proposed new prices for its Shipping Services for 2026.

If approved, these new prices will go into effect on January 18, 2026, resulting in an average increase of 6.6% for Priority Mail, a 5.1% increase for Priority Mail Express, a 7.8% increase for USPS Ground Advantage, and a 6.0% increase for Parcel Select.

There is some good news, though. As the Postal Service previously announced, the organization will not raise prices in January for Mailing Services. This means the price of a First-Class Mail stamp will not change.

USPS changes may delay postmark dates. What it means for your tax returns, ballots, bills and more.

-The U.S. Postal Service said it is not changing how or what it postmarks, but rather is clarifying for the public what to expect in terms of when that postmark is applied.

-Limited pickups from some post offices, as well as mail traveling farther to reach regional distribution centers — where postmarks are done — have led to an increase in delays between when you mail something and when it gets postmarked.

-To make sure you get a postmark that reflects the day you mail something, you’ll have to go to a post office counter and ask for a manual postmark.

Due to operational changes at the Postal Service, the agency says there will be more delays between when you mail something and when it gets postmarked.
