Thanks for the shout out Four Daughters Farmstead! Beverwyck recently helped clean out a 19th century (or earlier) cellar hole that the homeowners discovered while renovating their kitchen. Leonard was a Revolutionary War veteran from the present-day Town of Bethlehem, NY, who served in the 5th Regiment of the Albany County Militia. Demolished in the 1940s, the house's exact location was lost. Our goal today was to find it, and using maps of questionable accuracy, measuring tapes and a walking wheel, and a whole lot of head-scratching, we identified the probable location of the house and were extremely happy when we hit the foundation in the the first unit.
