Tuesdays Little Founders session at Rensselaer High School brought in real-world entrepreneurship through the chair, the clippers, and the story behind the brand.

Huge thank you to Josh, better known as SwervoDaBarber💈, for speaking with our students about what it takes to build a business, serve people well, stay consistent, and turn a skill into opportunity.

Our students got to hear directly from someone who is not just working in a career, but building a name, a brand, and a future.

That’s what Little Founders is about: helping young people see business, leadership, and ownership up close.

First day with the Giffen Gators was a good one. 🐊

Today we read The Strategist story, talked about what an entrepreneur is, and played an ethics and values game focused on decision-making.

We also introduced students to the C-suite roles they’ll be learning through the program: CEO, CFO, CMO, and CTO.

Then we played “Ask a CEO” and “Ask a CFO,” where students got to think through real business questions, money decisions, leadership choices, and team responsibilities.

They were fun, engaged, full of questions, and definitely interested in making money. 😂

That interest gives us a chance to teach the bigger lessons: how to make smart decisions, work with others, lead with values, communicate clearly, and build something the right way.

Today our Little Founders traded the classroom for the outdoors at BASF in Rensselaer 🌿

And they didn’t just show up as students.

They showed up as leaders.

Each student was paired with a group of Pre-K students and helped guide them through a scavenger hunt, hands-on activities, and a full day of exploring, learning, and laughing.

They practiced patience, communication, teamwork, responsibility, and care without needing a lecture about it. The lesson was the day itself.

Big thank you to the BASF team for welcoming our students and creating a field trip where our Little Founders could learn, lead, and help the next generation have a great experience.

This is what leadership can look like: muddy shoes, curious questions, tiny teammates, and students stepping up. 🌱

At S&S Capitol Consulting, we wanted to highlight Octavia Maxwell because she reflects the kind of leadership we see in the Builder archetype.

What stands out about Octavia is that she did not just start with an idea, she stayed committed to it. Through Skin Deep Naturals, she has built something people across the Capital Region can actually see, support, and connect with. That takes more than creativity. It takes patience, consistency, and a real willingness to keep building.
