Some have asked why we use a symbol like this in one of University of Kmt's primary logos.

The Sema-Tawy symbolized the unity between Upper and Lower Kmt bound by: the lotus flower (representing Upper Kmt) and the papyrus (representing Lower Kmt), tied together with the hieroglyph “sema,” signifying “union,” and depicting the trachea and lungs---the very heart of unified breath, voice and life.
The Sema-Tawy symbol, showing the papyrus (Lower Kmt) and lotus (Upper Kmt) bound together, illustrates their unity. This unity, struggle, then harmony of opposites, or KA, ensured Kmt's prosperity and stability as one federal nation. ~Tdka Maat Kilimanjaro

OUR MOST VALUABLE POSSESSION ❤🖤💚

"Black Children are our most valuable possession and our greatest potential resource. Any meaningful discussion of the survival or the future of Black people must be predicated upon Black people’s plan for maximal development of all Black children. Children are the only future of any people. If children’s lives are squandered, and if the children of a people are not fully developed at whatever cost and sacrifice, the people will have cosigned themselves to certain death. They will be destroyed from without and from within—by the attack of their own children against them. And they may be destroyed by both.

What must we, as Black women do? I am convinced that the African proverb 'the hand that rocks the cradle rules the nation and its destiny' is true. Black women are the mothers and, thus, the first teachers of Black females and Black males alike. With increased consciousness of their importance as the first teachers, Black women can determine whether future generations of Black children will be warriors or if we will continue to be slaves living in a highly refined state of psychological oppression, which is no less deadly than direct physical destruction. Black women as mothers and teachers can teach the first powerful lessons in pride and respect for cultural, historical, and genetic Blackness, while steadfastly refusing to impart any part of the white oppressors' lesson in Black self-hate that we learn as children" Dr. Frances Cress Welsing.

BREEDING STOCK

Charles Ball, a slave from Maryland, commented on a slave market that sold pregnant slaves. "The stranger, who was a thin, weather-beaten, sunburned figure, then said, he wanted a couple of breeding wenches, and would give as much for them as they would bring in Georgia. He then walked along our line, as we stood chained together, and looked at the whole of us - then turning to the women; asked the prices of the two pregnant ones. Our master replied, that these were two of the best breeding-wenches in all Maryland - that one was twenty-two, and the other only nineteen - that the first was already the mother of seven children, and the other of four - that he had himself seen the children at the time he bought their mothers - and that such wenches would be cheap at a thousand dollars each; but as they were not able to keep up with the gang, he would take twelve hundred dollars for the two."

Young women were often advertised for sale as "good breeding stock". To encourage child-bearing some population owners promised women slaves their freedom after they had produced fifteen children. One slave trader from Virginia boasted that his successful breeding policies enabled him to sell 6,000 slave children a year. source: spartacus-educational.com/USASbreeding.htm

Hope is a wonderful thing in some senses, but it can be pathological in others. The neurotic individual uses hope in a pathological way. He lives in hope and does not know when to give it up. There's a time that hope has to be given up; when one looks at reality and recognizes reality for what it is, and one accepts certain aspects of that reality and moves on it. The hope that this white man is going to accept you as one of his own, is one of those hopes that you must give up.
The hope and dream that you're going to be holding hands with little white boys and girls; that the white man is going to feed your children before he feeds his own; that he's going to clothe you before he clothes his own; that he's going to give up his ill-gotten gains and wealth in the name of some kind of bogus brotherhood or classless society, is a vain hope.

Give it up! Turn it loose!
When you turn it loose you will see a growth and development of self. It would mean an acceptance of self.” ---

“Much of the pathology of African people today is this vain hope that somehow we will be able to escape our African heritage, that somehow the white man will become color blind and will not see us for whom and what we are, that somehow we will be looked upon as some kind of abstraction -- as just a man. Not as an African man, not as a black man, but as a man, a human being only -- without culture, without recognition, without identity.

Too many of us want to shed our Africanicity for this kind of bogus, abstract existence, which is no existence at all, and which is the ultimate acceptance of invisibility.
We must recognize that we are an African people and we will be African people to the end of time -- and we must accept all that goes with that. We must accept the good, the bad, and all of the possibilities that go with being African. We must accept the fact that this white man is never going to accept us totally and get used to the idea.
