♻️ We've been busy! ♻️

The Albertville-Boaz Recycling Authority has had a productive first half of the year!

So far in 2026, we've recycled:
📦 106 tons of cardboard
📰 209 tons of paper
🥤 105 tons of plastics
♻️ 62 tons of other recyclable materials, including aluminum cans, glass, Styrofoam, plastic bags, and more!

That's 482 tons of material diverted from our landfills in just six months!

None of this would be possible without our incredible team. Our employees work tirelessly every day, hand-sorting every load of recyclable material that comes through our facility. Their dedication helps ensure these materials are processed correctly and given a second life.

The next time you drop off your recycling or see one of our truck and trailer crews out collecting, give them a wave, a smile, or an "atta boy!" They work hard behind the scenes to help keep our community cleaner and greener.

🎆 Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
Fire up the grill, gather with family and friends, and enjoy the fireworks—but when the celebration is over, remember this important recycling tip!
🚫 Firework packaging is NOT recyclable through our program.
Please place the following in your regular household trash:
🎇 Used fireworks and spent casings (make sure they are completely cool)
📦 Firework boxes and packaging
✨ Sparklers and other pyrotechnic materials
Help us keep our recycling stream clean by only placing accepted recyclable items in your bags. Keeping non-recyclable items out helps ensure that the materials we collect can actually be recycled.

Today, the airwaves across Sand Mountain are a little quieter.

WQSB, WAVU (Power 107.5 FM), and WKXX—the family of Sand Mountain Broadcasting—pause to mourn and pay tribute to our owner, Pat Murphy Courington, Jr., who passed away this morning, Sunday, January 18th, 2026.

To the world of broadcasting, he was a giant. A former President of the Alabama Broadcasters Association and a recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award, Mr. Courington was also honored as Alabama’s Broadcaster of the Year.

But to us, he was simply "Mr. C." Beyond the awards and the Hall of Fame honors, he was a man who served this community with a generous heart and a steady hand. From his service in the U.S. Army to his leadership in the Albertville Chamber and Rotary Club, his legacy is woven into the very fabric of our town.

The staff here at WQSB, WAVU (Power 107.5 FM), and WKXX send our deepest thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt gratefulness to the entire Courington and Mastin families. 🤍
