StructureSmart's main focus is to provide an unbiased, technically accurate and defensible report documenting property condition. I write my reports in plain language. I take the time to explain what the issue is, why it's an issue and even to discuss viable repair methods. The intent of the report is to provide an education to the client so the client is fully aware of the property condition befo

re making the purchase. Some clients use the report to improve their negotiating position, some use it as a to-do list and some use it to get the heck out of a deal that entraps them in a money pit. You can be sure I'm objective; I do not and never have marketed to real estate agents . When your business comes from agents (and most inspector rely on agents for nearly all of their business) you write soft reports, reports that say things like, "it's a lovely bucolic setting" or "typical of houses this age". Since I don't have to worry about making agents happy, I can tell the truth. My reports are blunt and accurate. Almost all of my business comes from past client referrals. If you're interested in a historic home, that's right up my alley. Since I started in the inspection business, I've focused on historic houses and properties. InspectorCentral has 24 hours of New York home inspector continuing education scheduled for November 12-14. You can get all 24 of your required CE hours in one (admittedly long) weekend.
Possibly, for the last time, We are teaching Electrical Inspections of Existing Dwellings based on the book of the same title by Douglas Hansen. All attendees for this 16-hour New York-approved course will receive an electronic version of this fantastic book that no inspector should be without.
One full day of HVAC will round out the weekend with the New York-approved eight-hour course.
We hold classes in a terrific 1851 Greek revival in Albion, New York, about halfway between Rochester and Buffalo. (Unless you dig strip malls with fluorescent lighting and VCT flooring, you're going to like this place)
