I saw this sign on my walk this morning.

Normally, I wouldn’t give it a second thought. We see signs like this everywhere in America. They are such a familiar part of our landscape that most of us probably don’t even notice them anymore.

But I had just returned from my first visit to Sweden, where my wonderful hosts taught me about a fascinating Swedish concept called allemansrätten, often translated as “everyman’s right” or the “right of public access.”
