Why you should wear blue on Thursday!!

We proudly wear blue to shine a light on autism, every 2nd day in April to show our support for individuals and families across the spectrum. Wearing blue helps spark important conversations, reduce stigma, and remind us that every person deserves understanding and opportunity.

For over 40 years, we've been committed to creating meaningful employment for adults with developmental delays and disabilities. We believe in the power of inclusive workplaces where everyone can contribute, thrive, and grow.

Join us in wearing blue this Thursday, April 2nd, and in championing neurodiversity every day.

"At Peter's Paycheck, our crew of adults with special needs packs every order with care—each one includes a personalized note with their photo and a handwritten ‘Packed by [Name], Thanks!’ Sometimes, customers take a moment to write back with thanks, like Ms. Gina P. did for James, saying his packing was ‘indestructible’ and made her day. When that happens, we share their kind words and give our crew a Certificate of Thanks. Real jobs, real pay, and real appreciation—thanks to customers like Gina for making it special!"

For those of you who knew the founder of Stride, Inc. I'd like to share the following:

Barbara Brennan
1936-2024

Barbara Roos Brennan (Berber), born in Enid, OK, led a life defined by resilience, generosity, and a fierce commitment to the special needs community. She began as a beauty queen with dreams of journalism, but her path evolved into advocacy, entrepreneurship, and family. She and her husband, Don, founded Stride, Inc., an innovative business dedicated to employing adults with disabilities—a mission she carried forward after his passing, growing the company into a leading force in inclusive employment.

Barbara's life was filled with family, faith, and service, including founding Barrett House, a shelter for women and children. A loyal friend, mother, grandmother, and lifelong dog lover, she cherished her Sandia Mountain view until her last days, cared for by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peter’s Paycheck, the non-profit she inspired. www.peterspaycheck.org. Her legacy will be celebrated on November 25th, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Albuquerque, NM, with services starting at 10 a.m.

Incredible meeting today with powerhouse advocates! We were joined by former NM Senator Bernadette Sanchez, Melissa Jabour of Ace Stripping Services, Michael and Melissa Martinez from Rio Grande Rotary Club, Kaity Ellis from the Office of Special Education, Sylvia Maser, founder of Global Give-A-Book, and, newly retired, Rachel Green. Each of these inspiring leaders brought unique insights and a shared passion for expanding opportunities for adults with disabilities in the workplace. Together, we're building a more inclusive future and breaking down barriers to employment!
