Sacred Sites Research is coordinating with the Society for American Archaeology (SAA) Rock Art Interest Group to offer a workshop titled “Ten Steps for Recording a Rock Art Site”. At the upcoming SAA meeting in New Orleans. The workshop will be on Wednesday April 17, 2024, from 10AM to 5PM. Material covered in the workshop includes the up-to-date methods and techniques for recording rock art sites, like use of DStretch, portable XRF, dating procedures and drone mapping. An important portion will be instruction for completing panel drawings form photographs using drawing tablets. Instructors are Larry Loendorf, Amanda Castaneda, Laurie White, and Mark Willis. Aaron Brien, the Crow tribal THPO will offer his thoughts through the workshop. Individuals can sign up on the SAA website. There is a $20 fee

Went to the Where there are Writings on the Wall site today with Crow Indians in Junior and Senior classes at Pryor School, Montana. The site has many examples of Crow war deeds. Loren Rausch their teacher took these photographs of crossing the bridge we built over the irrigation ditch. And me talking at the site.
