Mobius Theory 🏜️ artist-owned apparel + design brand 🇵🇷 est. 2017 🐈‍⬛🌈 Mobius Theory produces minimal streetwear-style apparel with bold, whimsical, iconic designs.

Mobius Theory is the ability to exist in multiple states simultaneously, enabling us to live as adults yet retain a sense of childlike awe, wonder, and playfulness. Mobius Theory is a fashion and lifestyle brand developed by Andy Torres as a reaction against disempowering cliches, cynical workaholics, a growing ‘busyness’ culture, and people that just take life too seriously. Our garments and products are loudly minimal and curiously absurd, offering a challenge to clichés and allowing for multiple interpretations and meanings for both the wearer and the witness. Mobius Theory is about prioritizing play, fun, and experimentation as much as work. We believe life as an adult is a strip of paper where our inner child coexists with our responsible, grown-up self. One side should not be sacrificed for the other. Everything we create has multiple meanings in order to maintain a balanced and eclectic life. We owe it to our health to see both sides of the strip at once. Mobius Theory can be found throughout the entire galaxy. Mobius Theory products can be found in local markets and stores in New Mexico, Memphis, Southern California, and online to customers in the United States and Canada, with more markets opening up soon.

I want to give a quick update while I have a moment between events (we’re in the middle of balloon fiesta season here) and share some family news, since so many of you always lovingly ask about Dexter and Bubo. Amanda and I appreciate that love ❤️ so much.

Some of you know in recent years that Dexter had something going on.
That something was always an unknown, but it is likely a low grade cancer of sorts that was managed by steroids and other drugs.
He’s been fine, despite that ER visit a few months ago (unrelated, we think, to the cancer, but still scary). He has his ups and downs, and lately has been a lot more chill.
He sleeps a lot more, taking it easy. We do our best to keep him comfortable, and he is in good spirits in the house, eats well, and seems to enjoy his time in the house.
He’s still as weird as ever, which makes diagnosing a little harder lol, but he is 16, quickly approaching 17, and he’s definitely not a kitten anymore.

Bubo was always the stable one in our house, never having anything major in her 16 years on Earth.
We found out however that she may have kidney disease. That has caused her to be a lot more picky about food.
She is keeping her weight up, is also doing fine, albeit a pain in the butt to manage, diva that she is.

All this has made for some more routine vet visits to our friends at Albuquerque Cat Clinic.
That adds up! How can you help, you ask? Great question!
Keep supporting us however you can, via our online store, our shop inside The ABQ Collective, and at our events like Downtown Growers' Market, Rail Yards Market, or the Humble Coffee® Company holiday market.
And as is true with *any* artist or brand, support isn’t always about money. Share our posts, sign up for our newsletters, spread the word, and most importantly stay kind to one another.

If you do want to do something a little 💰 extra, rather than do something like a gofundme, I’ll be sharing some really special edition designs that will be available only online (here/website), so stay tuned for the limited edition drops!

And check out some recent new stickers and bags. If you think I should put “Dexter driving a lowrider” on a shirt, let me know!

This past Saturday I was on my feet for 24 hours. I’m exaggerating, but only slightly.

Got up at 5am to set up Downtown Growers' Market and then after racing home to drop off produce from said market, I got back to DowntownABQ MainStreet + Arts & Cultural District to set up for the Bands of Enchantment festival 🌈 which went till 11pm. Finally crawled into bed close to 1am.

Full day in meant I had to get by with a little help from my friends.

In comes the superheroes! .chris.armstrong drops by in the morning and gets me Java Joes ☕️
(They also helped numerous others in need that day.)

Sarah Lovell stops by the festival later to bring another important item. Bless you, Sarah.

And I got to hang out with Moonberry Surprise! Jennifer Hernandez Metal The Brand NM47 Nora I. Atayde-Reynaga 🥃 🐈‍⬛ and more that I’m forgetting, all in close proximity — which is a rare treat.

Plus, a #$&!ing rainbow!

is mostly black cat and New Mexico themes, and you mostly see the former.
Sometimes the latter comes out, like this new design:
* The 7 Chakras of New Mexico *
—and another new design 🙈 that adds to the Daft Cat series that is years in the making.
You can come see it for yourself this Saturday Downtown Growers' Market during the Route 66 Centennial celebration that’s taking over the market.

9 years for 9 lives! 🐈‍⬛ 🎉 We’re having a birthday 🎂 party for simply surviving 9 years in business.
Come out to Monozukuri on Sunday, August 30th anytime from 12-4pm and say hello, have some treats, see new designs, come see the space, come see me!
You can make a day of it by heading to 🚂 Rail Yards Market first. Maybe you’re also taking MadVan hat 👒 making class later that evening, also at Monozukuri.
It’s downtown and it’s happening!

A week late, but I got a chance to say hello to this beauty over at Rail Yards Market before the market began.

I’ve been enamored with Shepard Fairey’s graphic design and branding work for decades now, from seeing mysterious coded images plastered all over NYC to the famous Hope posters, and then getting the real treat of seeing him speak at a conference in Memphis ten years ago.
I’ve found a lot of inspiration from his method, maybe inadvertently, when building my own brand. I’ve always admired (and tried to use) simple, bold colors with iconic imagery, with the goal of having it be something that can be seen everywhere even if you don’t really know what it is.
Not sure that I succeeded — but anyway, I have Shepard, in part, to thank among many inspirations in my life. Glad some small pieces of that are in my home town now. 🏜️

Bubo is so grateful 🥰 that our new hat series was supported so well this month—and it’s only mid-May!
You folks put a serious dent in the stock. So much so that ⚾️ caps and 🌞 hats haven’t even hit the website yet.
Definitely will be making way more black sun hats, and getting a new run of snap back Ferals.
Question, should our beanies also be year round?
Let me know!
And in the meantime I’ll see you this Saturday 5/16 at and Sunday 5/17 at .abq
Come see what hats I have left and give me some feedback. I’m gearing up for some special projects leading up to the 100th birthday celebration as well as in June!

For many years, Bubo has been the 🐈‍⬛ cat that afforded us our many iconic portraits. These have become numerous stickers and garments, etc that you have all so lovingly supported. 🙏

But Dexter has only ever licensed to us the right to use just a couple of expressions. This week, after many intense meetings, he has changed his stance (after almost nine years in business!) and given us permission to make many more tuxedo cat portraits in his image!

Maybe it’s his old age and his wish to leave behind a grand legacy. He’s doing great, guys! But at 16+, he’s definitely slowed down and become a bit calmer and wiser (and even weirder).

More to come, of course, but the first new Dexter item in many years launches next week and we can’t wait to share it!
