🚨 IMPORTANT WATER OUTAGE SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

Do not depend on the water in your water heater. Leave it alone unless it is a true emergency.

Improperly draining and restarting a water heater can result in expensive damage. Restoring power before the tank is completely full and all air has been purged can destroy electric heating elements.

If your home has an older fuse panel, replacing a fuse during this process can also present a serious electrical shock hazard.

If you do not know how to safely shut off the breaker or disconnect power to your water heater, do not attempt to drain it. Contact a licensed plumber or electrician for assistance.

The safest option is to leave your water heater alone and use stored or bottled water whenever possible.

Has anyone seen our roasters? We lent them out and now they are missing. Just want to make sure we can keep our pancakes stay warm for our pancake feed. If you have one of our tables, marked with Alcester Fire Department, we’d sure be happy about that too.

The date has been set for us to feed our community! We will be hosting our free will donation breakfast the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend and the Alcester-Hudson homecoming weekend September 5. Save the date and come help us raise funds to help with buying gear and training utilities. We look forward to seeing everyone every year while helping you fill that stomach!

Update: this is being moved to City Hall. The Alcester Fire Department has drinking water available for those who need it at city hall.
Please take only what you need to get through today so we can help as many people as possible until additional water arrives. We are working with the appropriate agencies, and more resources are being sought.

City of Alcester we have spotters out. In the country, be weather aware. Be prepares to seek shelter. 1. The lowest floor of the home.
2. An interior room with no windows, such as:
* Bathroom
* Closet
* Hallway
* Laundry room
3. Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible.

Mobile homes

If you’re in a mobile home, leave it and go to a sturdy building if time allows. Mobile homes are not safe during tornadoes.

Additional protection

* Get under something sturdy (workbench, heavy table).
* Cover your head and neck with a mattress, blankets, sleeping bag, or helmet.
* Keep shoes on in case you need to walk through debris afterward.

Places to avoid

* Rooms with large windows.
* Garages.
* Rooms with wide-span roofs (great rooms, large living rooms, gymnasiums).
* Upper floors.
