Aledo Rhubarb Fest starts tomorrow, and it’s one of those weekends where Aledo feels extra Aledo.

The square will be busy, the food will be out, music will be going, and half the town will be wandering around with rhubarb treats, vendor finds, and no real plan except “let’s just look around.”

Honestly, it’s one of the best weekends to just slow down and enjoy town a little.

Give yourself a few extra minutes getting around tomorrow and Saturday. There’ll be more people out walking, more cars around town, and everybody trying to find a parking spot without making it a whole thing.

We’ll be at the shop Friday, and the tow truck will be around if the weekend gets a little too interesting. If your vehicle picks Rhubarb Fest weekend to be dramatic, you know where we are.

Have a good Rhubarb Fest, Aledo. Eat the pie. Get the ice cream. Walk the square. Support the booths. Wave at people you know and pretend not to see at least one person because you’re busy chewing.

Good afternoon Mercer county!!!
Vehicles have a real talent for bad timing. They’ll run fine all week, no issues, no warning, and then the one time you actually need to be somewhere they decide today’s not the day. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a hurry or just trying to get one more thing done, that’s usually when it happens.
We can’t fix when it happens, but we can control how long you’re stuck dealing with it. That’s the part we take seriously, getting there quick and getting you out of the situation without it turning into a whole ordeal.
Most of the time it’s not where you’re at that matters, it’s how long you’re stuck there. Sitting on the side of the road, in a parking lot, or in your own driveway trying to figure out what to do next… that’s the part that gets frustrating. We try to keep that part as short as possible so you’re not stuck waiting around any longer than you have to be.

Good afternoon Mercer county!!!

With the better weather rolling through people are going farther than just around town. Not just quick trips anymore… actually getting out on the road, whether it’s heading to see family or making that trip to see mom on her day.

Even if everything seems fine, this is a good time to give your vehicle a once over before you start putting more miles on it. Tires, brakes, fluids, just the basic stuff that keeps it doing what it’s supposed to do when you need it.

A lot of times it’s just little things starting to show up… nothing stopping you today, but the kind of stuff you want to keep an eye on before it turns into something bigger down the road. Better to catch it here in the shop than halfway through a trip.

We love hearing your compliments. If compliments could pay the bills, that’s all we’d charge. Unfortunately, Ameren and the parts suppliers still want actual money. Weird system, but here we are.

If your steering wheel isn’t straight going down the road, that’s not just “how it drives.” It could mean the alignment needs adjusting, or something is starting to wear and pushing it out of alignment. With the roads the way they’ve been lately, we’ve been seeing quite a bit of that come through the shop.

Sometimes it’s not even obvious right away. It starts as a slight pull, the wheel sitting a little crooked, or you catching yourself holding it different without thinking about it. You kind of get used to it after a while and forget it wasn’t always like that.

Problem is, that’s when it starts wearing tires funny and putting extra stress on parts that don’t need it. What could’ve been a simple fix turns into something bigger just from letting it go too long.

If it’s been bugging you, there’s a reason. Might be worth getting it looked at before it turns into more than it needs to be.

We’ve had a few cars come in lately where nothing is completely “wrong”… it just doesn’t feel right driving it.

Little shake in the steering wheel, pulling a bit when you’re going down the road, maybe a noise you only hear once in awhile or when you hit the brakes. Most people keep going with it for awhile and hope it goes away… usually it doesn’t.

That’s when tires start wearing funny, something in the suspension loosens up, or it turns into a bigger repair than it needed to be. If yours has been doing something like that it’s worth stopping in and having us take a look before it gets there.

In the last couple weeks we’ve had a blizzard, tornadoes, 80 degree days and now a couple days of cold rain… so yeah, roads are a little all over the place.

Today it’s just that steady drizzle but it’s enough to make things slick, especially on back roads and in spots that haven’t dried out. This is the kind of weather where things start showing up… tires spinning, low tread, sliding more than you expect, so if it feels a little off there’s probably a reason.
