If you receive a text that says it is from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety - Driver License Services - disregard and delete! It is a scam.

The text says you must make payment for a traffic violation or your driver license will be suspended. DPS/OHP does not collect fines and our agency does not communicate through text message.

Keep Our Work Zones Safe

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is increasing enforcement in construction zones across the state. Troopers will be strictly enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations for unsafe driving, including speeding, inattention, unsafe lane changes, and distracted driving.

If you are on your phone in a work zone, you will be cited. If you exceed the speed limit, you will be cited. If you recklessly endanger our workers, you could face arrest.

As of November 1st, it is illegal while driving in a school zone (when a reduced speed limit is posted) or a construction zone to:

• Manually compose, send, or read text messages on a hand-held device.
• Hold or use a hand-held cellular phone.

Drive safely, pay attention, and follow the law. To those who do, we thank you for helping keep our roads and work zones safe.

Last round for the year. We were honored to share the Irie family’s tragic story with these young men and women. Our goal was to get even one kid to think of a loved one that they would not want to lose before picking up their phone while driving. We pray this was a success. Thank you to Oklahoma Challenge for putting on these events. It may not be easy to measure but we truly believe that the education provided to these groups across the state really make a difference.
