This is a 2-7/8” pipe post driven 3-4 feet into hard, rocky ground with a hydraulic driver. In ground conditions like this, post driven are often stronger because the soil and rock are packed tight around the pipe, locking it in place. Digging for concrete actually loosens the ground and can become the weak point over time. Line post mainly deal with the side pressure, which depth handles well. Gates and corners take constant pull and twist, so concrete is used there to add mass and resist that leverage.
