☘️🚒 TEAM TUESDAY — SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT 🚒☘️

The Shannon Hills Fire Department is excited to introduce a brand-new weekly series: SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT! ☘️

Each Tuesday, we’ll introduce you to one of the dedicated members of our team. This is your chance to get to know the people behind the scenes, behind the badge, and behind the turnouts — the men and women who run toward danger and respond when our neighbors need us most.

🔥 THIS WEEK’S SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT: LT. MIKE VICENTE 🔥

Lieutenant Mike Vicente has proudly served with the Shannon Hills Fire Department for six years. We asked Mike a few questions so our community could get to know the firefighter behind the turnouts!

🚒 What’s your favorite part of training or the fire service?
Mike: “Driving the fire truck is the best part!”

☕ Coffee, energy drink, or neither?
Mike: “Coffee.”

🔧 What are some of your hobbies or interests outside the Fire Department?
Mike enjoys working on small engines, including lawnmowers and other equipment.

🔥 What made you want to become a firefighter?
Mike: “When I first moved to Shannon Hills, my neighbor — who is now a Captain with the department — was one of my biggest influences. He was always talking to me about joining. I finally decided to make it to one of the Monday night meetings, and ever since then, I’ve loved being a part of this amazing team.”

We’re proud to have Lt. Mike Vicente as part of the SHFD family and appreciate the six years he has dedicated to serving our community!

Be sure to follow us and check back every Tuesday to see who will be featured next on ☘️ SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT! ☘️

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the Shannon Hills Volunteer Fire Department joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the 2,977 innocent lives taken that day and remember the extraordinary courage of the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, dispatchers, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to help others.

For the fire service, September 11 carries a special meaning. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered their final alarm while doing what firefighters are called to do — putting the lives of others before their own.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and dedication continue to inspire those who put on the uniform and answer the call.

Today, we ask our community to take a moment to remember those who never made it home, the families forever changed, the survivors, and all who responded in the days, months, and years that followed.

May we never forget the lives lost.
May we never forget the heroes.
May we never forget the unity of our nation.

🇺🇸 THE NIGHT BEFORE SEPTEMBER 11 🇺🇸

Tonight, as September 10th comes to a close, we remember that 25 years ago, Americans went to bed expecting September 11, 2001, to be just another Tuesday.

Firefighters reported to their stations. Police officers prepared for their shifts. EMS crews stood ready. Families said goodnight. Parents tucked their children into bed. Thousands of people made plans for a tomorrow that, for many, would never come.

By the next morning, our nation—and the world—would be forever changed.

On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters, along with law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and thousands of innocent civilians, lost their lives. Countless first responders and survivors would later lose their lives or suffer lasting illness because of their service and exposure in the days and months that followed.

Tonight, the members of the Shannon Hills Volunteer Fire Department ask our community to remember.

Remember those who went to work and never came home.

Remember the firefighters who climbed the stairs while everyone else was coming down.

Remember the police officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help someone they had never met.

Remember the families who received a final phone call, a final message, or no goodbye at all.

And remember how, in the days that followed, we stood together as Americans.

Tomorrow marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. A quarter of a century has passed, but our promise remains the same:

We will never forget.

Tonight, our thoughts are with the fallen, their families, our fellow first responders, and every American whose life was forever changed that morning.

May we always remember their courage, their sacrifice, and their service.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🇺🇸
