♻️On Saturday, we were grateful to have the LCU Honors Group volunteer with us all morning. They helped with drop-offs and also helped clear out and sort several super sacks full of backlogged glass. They also assisted with receiving and processing lots of cardboard for recycling I have it on good report from a team member that they were “nice kids and hard workers!” Thank you!!

📦Local recyclers are so excited that cardboard recycling is back!📦
Last weekend enthusiastic recyclers came with carloads of cardboard that they had been saving in anticipation of the return of this service.
We are so grateful that we are now able to recycle cardboard and that so many friends are ready to recycle!♻️
If you can’t make it during our regular hours, you can drop off your cardboard anytime, Monday- Friday, 7:30-4:30. Just slide your flattened cardboard through the slots in the door. ⬇️ There are big metal baskets inside ready to receive the cardboard. Thanks!

♻️On Saturday some members of the LSUA Rotaract Club volunteered with us. We love it when they come. As soon as they sign up and check in, they get right to work. And they are great to work with. 😊

GLASS ACT RECYCLING has been selected as a recipient of the Healthy Communities Grant by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the state’s anti-litter and community improvement organization. Glass Act Recycling’s grant award in the amount of $10,000 will be used to expand recycling to include cardboard. We will collect, compact and bale acceptable cardboard into bundles and sell these bundles directly to regional recycling buyers. The intent of this program is to educate our community on acceptable cardboard and reduce cardboard being sent to the landfill. The success of this project will be demonstrated by our well-informed citizens taking pride in their neighborhoods by recycling their cardboard.

Acceptable cardboard:
- Corrugated cardboard
- Single board (e.g. cereal box, paper towel tubes)
- Honeycomb (packing support)
- Molded pulp (e.g. egg containers)
- Chipboard (recycled uncoated board)
- Brown paper (e.g. packing paper )

!!! Cardboard recycling will be open for public dropoff on September 26, 2026. We are located at 5215-B Leo Street, Alexandria !!!

(This grant will be used in addition to the contributions from the "Golden Ticket" holders who donated to cardboard recycling.)
