Our founder built Cowo & Crèche for three reasons:

She needed a workspace where she could be on a client call without being embarrassed by a loud request for potty help in the background.

She liked her kids and enjoyed having them close enough for a hug — but needed them far enough away that chocolate milk wasn't getting spilled on her laptop.

And she was tired of letting YouTube babysit while she worked from home.

She looked for a space that gave her both. She didn't find it. So she built it.

That's what Cowo & Crèche is. A coworking space with onsite childcare and an event venue — all under one roof in Alexandria, VA. Built by a working mom who refused to choose between being present for her kids and being serious about her career.

If you've ever muted yourself on a Zoom call because your toddler was melting down in the next room — this place was built for you.

This pic is of one of our families who have moved away, but the joy they brought to our space and the focused time we were able to give them in return will stay with us for a long while.

When our founder stepped away from this building five months ago and relocated to Colombia with her family, it wasn't a retreat. It was a decision to practice what Cowo & Crèche was built on.

We created this space because we believe working parents — especially moms — deserve real work-life balance. Not the kind you put on a website. The kind you actually live.

But here's what we've learned:

Cowo & Crèche was designed to run. Our team in Alexandria has continued serving our coworking members, hosting events, and nurturing the children in our care every single day — because that's what a real business does. It doesn't collapse when its founder takes time to heal.

Yesterday, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake devastated western Colombia — the strongest the country has recorded in over a century. Hundreds of lives have been lost. Communities have been leveled. And our founder is there, on the ground, in a country that has welcomed her family for the past five months.

She's not standing still.

As an Air Force veteran and former U.S. Secret Service professional, she's putting those skills to work supporting recovery efforts — because service isn't something you clock out of. It's who we are. It's why Cowo & Crèche exists. It's why Faith & Valor Ministries exists. We show up.

And if you're a working parent who's been putting yourself last — let this be your reminder that taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's the most responsible thing you can do for the people counting on you.
