BREAKING: Former DOJ Pardon Attorney torches Todd Blanche in brutal Senate testimony
Former DOJ Pardon Attorney Elizabeth Oyer just delivered a stunning warning to the Senate: do not confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General.
Oyer told lawmakers that just two days after Blanche was confirmed as Deputy Attorney General, he fired her from her position after she refused to rubber stamp what she described as a political favor for one of Trump’s friends. She said Blanche later tried to justify her firing by pointing to her clemency work during the Biden administration, but that his version is contradicted by documents and evidence.
Then she went even further.
“The casual lies that Mr. Blanche tells, even while sitting in this chair testifying to this committee, are emblematic of a much larger problem,” Oyer said.
That is not some random partisan attack. That is a former DOJ pardon attorney telling the Senate, under oath, that the man Trump wants to lead the Justice Department cannot be trusted to tell the truth about his own conduct.
Oyer also said Blanche sent U.S. Marshals to her home in an effort to stop her from speaking with members of Congress. Think about that. A Justice Department official allegedly firing a career public servant, then using the power of the government to try to silence her before she could tell Congress what happened.
Her final plea to senators was devastating.
“I beg the members of this committee to think about what this is costing our country. Please do not degrade our justice system further by promoting Mr. Blanche.”
This is exactly why Trump wants loyalists in charge of the Justice Department. Not independence. Not integrity. Not the rule of law. Loyalty, intimidation, and political favors.
Elizabeth Oyer just put the entire Senate on notice.
