Buying a Practice Without This Is a Gamble

If you’re looking at a practice and thinking:
“The numbers look okay… I think I can make this work… I don’t want to lose the deal…”

Pause. This is where good doctors make expensive mistakes.
Buying a practice without real due diligence isn’t optimism, it’s trusting emotion instead of facts.

Here’s what I see all the time:
• Buyers fall in love with production numbers
• Active patient counts are inflated or miscalculated
• Hygiene capacity doesn’t match the story being sold
• Expenses are normalized on paper, not in reality
• The transition plan isn’t evaluated for what happens to patients, revenue, and support after day one

And then 6–12 months later:
👉 The schedule isn’t as full as expected
👉 Cash flow feels tighter
👉 The team is maxed out or misaligned
👉 Ownership feels heavier than anticipated
