Well, Free Practice Two and Qualifying for the final two races of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli did not go quite as well as the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing team hoped. Turns out, Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is a really good track for the Maserati. So good in fact, the Maserati earned itself a BOP (Balance of Performance) adjustment which should help to level the playing field a bit with our Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2.

My qualifying was interrupted by two red flags, one of which cost me my best lap. I will be rolling to the grid for Race One in 14th.

Jay Mo Härtling had a better qualifying and will be starting 6th for Race Two.

Our target remains the same, finish in front of our main rival in both races on Sunday and the championship is ours.

Day two at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve featured Free Practice One for the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli.

The SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2 was hooked up. Jay Mo Härtling, on a new set of Pirelli tires, laid down the fastest time of the day. I started with used tires and lapped consistently on pace with our main rival for the championship before getting a taste of new tires at the end of the session.

Free Practice Two and Qualifying are on the docket for Saturday.

The official test session at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve for the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli was a little chaotic. Bronze rated drivers in GT3 cars joined the test session making it difficult to get clear track and the setting sun reduced visibility in some corners dramatically. The SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing drivers swapped between the 110 and 111 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2’s. Running both cars on old tires gave me a good sense of the differences in handling balance towards the end of a race stint. Looking forward to more track time tomorrow in the 111 with a new set of Pirelli tires.

It normally takes two days to get to Europe. This time it took me three days and my luggage four days! But, I am here now and got in my track walk around Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Definitely looking forward to racing the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2 at this amazing track for the second time this year.

We are here to clinch the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli. The weekend starts with free practice on Thursday and Friday followed by qualifying on Saturday and two races for the big prize on Sunday. Attack!

The final two rounds of the championship are just around the corner at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, October 17-18. We are still leading the championship and everyone is pushing hard to bring home the big prize at the end of the season.
