Hey!

Two more rounds of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli are in the books. It was a difficult weekend at Misano World Circuit for the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2 but ended well. Here's the inside scoop: https://www.thileniusgroup.com/news

Now that’s more like it! Race two of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli at Misano World Circuit went much better for the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing team and our Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2. Jay Mo Härtling and Moritz Wiskirchen locked out the front row in qualifying and led away from the start. Moritz headed the field until a mechanical issue brought him to a halt. Jay Mo took over and walked away before handing the car to me to bring to the finish. Great recovery from yesterday and we have extended our lead in the Drivers’ Championship.

Race 1 of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli at Misano World Circuit is in the books. Starting P16 in the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2, my goal was to move forward and turn the car over to Jay Mo Härtling in a better position. The start proved to be a bit hectic. On a single file restart from P11 just before the pit window opened, I completed a pass before the start/finish line, a violation of the restart rules. Jay Mo was forced to serve a drive through penalty for my infraction that dropped us from P2 to P6 at the checkered flag. I do not fully agree with the penalty and certainly do not agree with the severity of the penalty, but we will be back on track tomorrow looking for retribution.

Jay Mo Härtling puts to SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2 on the pole for Race 2 at Misano World Circuit.

Qualifying for Race 1 did not go quite as well. I was hit in the right rear while building a gap resulting in a red flag. When qualifying resumed, I laid down my quickest lap of the weekend before a second red flag ended the session prematurely. It is frustrating to be starting 16th in such a great car.

Race 1 is coming up at 12:05 local time.

Free practice two for the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli at Misano World Circuit is in the books. Jay Mo Härtling kept up his stellar pace in the SR Motorsports by Schnitzelalm.de Racing Mercedes-AMG Motorsport GT2 and I ran a race simulation. But the real heroes of the day are our teammates that toughed it out through brutal heat and humidity. Grazie di tutto!
