Have you ever noticed that, more often than not, the responses to a post do not even remotely address the initial purpose of the post?

The item below is a good example of someone trying to promote a business/website based not on the reason for the post, but because they picked out a single word.

To avoid confusion (and possible embarrassment), make sure that before you click "Send", "Post" or "Reply", you re-read the original post, and re-read your response to make sure that your response is appropriate for the initial message sent.

Do you have any simple tips you'd like to share? Please feel free to post a response. I promise not to correct it (grin)

Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Think about that. It makes sense. Rocket technology was designed to deliver weapons systems, yet someone imagined using rockets to send a man into space. Mathematics existed for eons, yet it took imagination to create a computer to process mathematical equations faster than the human mind.

We all have situations in our life where imagination plays a role, whether it’s developing a marketing plan, creating new markets for our products, or figuring out new ways to use data. Take the time to imagine how you can do something better.

So, tell me about a time when you used your imagination to solve a problem. I’d love to hear about it.

Do you play it safe? Do you always choose the same option, over and over again? Abraham Maslow once said, “In any given moment we have two options: To step forward into growth, or step back into safety.”

For many of us, the safe option is the comfortable choice. The fear of trying something different, or the fear of failing, may be holding us back, preventing us from achieving a new milestone or goal. It’s time to challenge yourself. Move forward, try the option that may be harder but offers greater payback. Take a chance and grow.

What holds you back? What roadblock prevents you from growing?

You wake up one morning and realize that your mirror must be broken. After all, you don’t have gray hair and wrinkles. The grass needs to be cut, but you don’t want to get sunburned, and they’re calling for rain tomorrow. That project is due tomorrow. You email your team with instructions. Oh, look. I’ve got a couple of Facebook friend requests. Wait…is that image photoshopped? That’s a funny video. I gotta repost it.

We all mention it at one time or another; Time got away from me. Where did the time go? I thought I had more time.

Yes, you’re the pilot. You control how that time is spent, and what direction you’re flying. Focus on completing the task at hand. Cut the grass today, and sit on the porch and watch it rain tomorrow. Finish the team project. Then reward yourself by reposting that video. If you’re applying for a job, don’t wait until the weekend. You’re the pilot. Control when you get to your destination. Avoid those detours.

As for the mirror issue, maybe put the mirror in an alcove where to can only view from a distance?

Many of us are at a crossroads. We’re reaching retirement age; keep working or tap into your retirement? Shutdowns across the country put you on furlough (temporary or permanent); wait for a callback or find another job? Keep working, or start your own company?

Confronted by these choices, we tend to hesitate. What is the best choice? The answer is, you won’t know which is best for you until you make the choice. If doing the same thing no longer appeals to you, try the alternative. The good news is, this isn’t a one and done decision. On this journey, you will encounter many crossroads. If you don’t like the path you’ve taken, an alternate path is just around the corner.

The choice is yours. All you have to do is make it.

We currently live in a world where words are being used as weapons. What you say can be used as an attack on someone’s character, or can be used against you as an example of your character. Now more than ever it is important to make sure your words are measured and precise. Whether you are in a meeting with clients or employees, giving a presentation, or just out socializing, what you say is going to stay with you, and people will define you by that. I try to live by the old adage “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Of course, if we applied that to political advertising, we’d probably be staring at a blank screen with no sound.

So many people today find it easy to be negative. Covid-19. The economy. Your job (or lack thereof). Money. It takes more work to find a reason to be positive, but the results are worth it. If the sun is shining, be positive; it’s a beautiful day. It’s raining? Be positive; the garden is going to look so much better. Find joy and positivity, and your whole demeanor improves, and that shows when you’re at work, or when you’re in a job interview. Be the beacon, and who knows? You might just change a few attitudes of others in the process (or at least irritate those you don’t like).
